I promised to avenge my parents.
But their killer is still on the loose, and he's stolen more than my parents' lives. Now, as he draws closer to his mysterious goals, he's poised to destroy what little I have left.
I promised to translate an ancient grimoire.
But it holds the secrets of my family - and the secret history of demon summoning. I fear its answers as much as I need them. Who was the foremother of Demonica…and who am I?
I promised to send my demon home.
But the way he watches me, the way he protects me, the way he touches me - how can I cast him away forever? I swore I would do this for him, but can I? Should I?
But I promised - and I will keep my promises even if they cost me my heart, my soul, and my life.
Ooh-wee, what an engaging finale to the Guild Codex: Demonized series by Annette Marie. From the suspense, to the chemistry Delivering Evil for Experts was a blast!
“We’d saved each other. Not just on that horrific afternoon when we’d formed our contract, but before that, when I’d given him life-sustaining food and he’d distracted me from my overwhelming grief and loneliness. And after that— every day after that, we’d been protecting each other in our own way.“- Delivering Evil for Experts
I love the Guild Codex world and the series within that all take place in the same world and timeline. Robin and our demon Zylas are my favorite storyline. I loved the demon world, magic and the forbidden romance.
It was interesting to see some major battles from Robin and Zylas’ perspective, but it was the demonology, summoning and contracting that pulled me in. Marie offered twists, reveals, and her world-building was captivating.
Strong secondary characters like Amalia added to the tale, the snark and suspense. I would love to see Amalia get her own story beyond her friendship with Robin.
The forbidden romance was sweet, sexy, and got my heart racing. I laughed, crossed-my-fingers, swooned, and wished like hell for a happily ever after.
The epilogue and wrap up to the Demonized series was everything I could have wished for and more. It impressed me how tightly Marie wove the timeline between all the series. Events clicked into place like a giant jigsaw puzzle. While I sometimes felt the different perspectives of certain events slow the plot, the overall delivery and discoveries had me ultimately deciding nothing should be changed.
Cris Dukehart narrated all the series, and they introduced Teddy Hamilton to give us Zylas’ point of view. Both did a fantastic job and work together well from accents to tempo. Cris has a lot of characters to provide voices for from male, female and supernatural beasts. She delivered, and I felt Teddy added depth to Zylas.

I was so happy and surprised with this ending! I just couldn’t see how Annette Marie could give them a happy one and stay true to the characters and the world but she pulled it off. 🙂

I cannot wait to get to this one. I’m trying to read in order and I’m a bit behind. I’m listening to Warping Minds right now. Trying to go by pub date, but I really miss our main characters and so far I’ve only heard one reference to the Crow and Hammer. Maybe more crossover will be coming. I love the Guild Codex and can’t wait to get to Sangria and Delivering Evil!
