Hide. That’s all Pippa can do to escape the terror chasing her. But now that she’s off the grid in a safe house, she finds plenty of interesting things to watch through the window. Like her new neighbor, with his startling green eyes, killer smile, and sexy bad-boy tattoo . . .

Run. Malcolm West is fleeing the hell he unleashed in his last assignment as an undercover cop. A backwoods bungalow sounds like the perfect place to start over. Until he discovers he’s been set up . . .

Fight. Someone’s gone to a lot of trouble to bring them together. No matter how much he resents that, and his own driving needs, Malcolm will have to dig deep and let loose the banished killer inside himself, or Pippa’s fears could come true faster than the flip of a bolt in a lock . . .

ROMANCE SUSPENSE Humor MansBestFriend

I enjoy Rebecca Zanetti’s romantic suspense series and dove right into Hidden, the first novel in her new Deep Ops series. I absolutely loved the special Ops unit, characters and romance. Zanetti sunk her hooks into me and never let go!

Hide. Run. Fight.

Coffee Dates with Hidden

  • First Date: Our story opens with Pippa watching a very sexy man move into the house next door. Their properties share a fenced-in yard since sisters built the homes. Pippa lives off the grid, hiding behind the doors of her home, her sanctuary. Malcolm West has left the police force after an undercover assignment went south. He purchased the quiet, charming home to escape his demons but someone has set him up.  Turns out the head of the Requisition Force wants him on their team. Oh boy, I am all. I need to know what Pippa is running from.
  • Second Date: It took awhile for the suspense to kick in, as we learned about the Requisition Force, Pippa’s past and met members of the team. At first Malcolm wants nothing to do with the assignment, but his neighbor has piqued his interest and the sizzling attraction between the two quickly pulls me in. I love the quirky ops unit, and oh my lord… their pets. Yes! They are the quirkiest bunch of misfits I’ve ever met and I cannot wait for more. I pictured the head of their unit as Tommy Lee Jones from Men in Black. Oh, and his dog likes to wear high heels and drink bourbon! Insta-lust gives way to trust as the relationship between Malcolm and Pippa develops.  Malcolm’s undercover work complicated things.
  • Third Date: Zanetti turns up the heat before honing in on the suspense angle involving Pippa’s past and takes us into the world of a cult. Stumbles, trust issues and secrets make the road difficult as the non-stop action and danger heighten their emotions. For all Pippa has been through, she has a backbone, and I rooted for her. Malcolm is deep undercover, but it might cost him Pippa. This last date was intense and allowed me to experience an array of emotions before wrapping up. I am excited about reading the next book in this series, particularly Raider and Brigid’s stories.

Heat, suspense, humor, and a motley crew of characters made Hidden an addictive start to the Deep Ops series.

There was lots happening, which is often the case with the first in the series. World-building and all. But this was great and had moments of sexy, humor, mystery and suspense. I enjoyed the layers although I really felt for their difficult pasts and present. Excellent review. Anne – Books of My Heart

Oh man, that dog and his PTSD and quirks. He stole the show so many times and that’s saying something because the rest of the book was pretty good. 🙂

All three of us at Delighted Reads reviewed this one today. And we all loved it too. Glad you did too!

I loved all of your reviews. I jut neglected to say the three of you and said both. When I realized after Shari replied I commented again. Sorry about that, I was just so giddy that everyone is loving it.

That cover is stunning. I love the colors. OK – while I adore my 710 year old neighbor, I am lamenting the face that I don’t have a hottie moving in next door. LOL This book sounds so good!

    Great review.

Oh my goodness, yes you would. I started with a spin-off series a few years ago and just kept going. I’d like to get to her backlist as well,

I always say I’m going to read more from this genre and then I forget about it. You need to get after me Kim and make sure I do! ;P This does sound good though and I always love mysteries and romance in the fall for some reason so this really would be the perfect time to read more from this genre.
