As an Arrow, an elite soldier in the Psy Council ranks, Judd Lauren was forced to do terrible things in the name of his people. Now he is a defector, and his dark abilities have made him the most deadly of assassins - cold, pitiless, unfeeling. Until he meets Brenna...

Brenna Shane Kincaid was an innocent before she was abducted - and had her mind violated - by a serial killer. Her sense of evil runs so deep, she fears she could become a killer herself. Then the first dead body is found, victim of a familiar madness. Judd is her only hope, yet her sensual changeling side rebels against the inhuman chill of his personality, even as desire explodes between them. Shocking and raw, their passion is a danger that threatens not only their hearts, but their very lives.

paranormal SUSPENSE SEXY hot

Caressed by Ice by Nalini Singh is the third book in the Psy-Changeling series. The series delivers a hot paranormal romance with an overall arc involving Psy, humans and shifters. In Caressed by Ice, the roles are reversed and our Psy is male. Intense and filled with banter Singh gave me a couple I could sink my teeth into and root for.

Judd Lauren is an Arrow, an élite soldier in the Psy ranks who defects when his entire family was slated to be destroyed. Hiding among the shifters and working with the resistance he has not let go of the silence because he fears it will unleash his murderous instinct. Gads, Judd made me swoon on so many levels. I felt for this mighty warrior who carries such a heavy burden. Seeing him come undone and break his chains around Brenna was delicious.

Brenna Shane Kincaid is a badly damaged. She is a  fierce wolf who survived an abduction by a brutal Psy serial killer. She fears she is slipping into madness as visions of blood and murder fill her dreams. With over protective brothers and a fear of opening up to others, she finds herself drawn to Judd. The tale that unfolds delivered a hot, sexy, tender, humorous romance and I found myself lost within their story. Brenna has been altered and her impact to the overall arc was fascinating. I loved how fearless, determined and oh so stubborn she was.

The overall arc continues as we move farther into the Psy world and that of the Silence. This time they are trying to weaken the pacts, and someone within the Psy network is implanting the next protocol in the Silence. They are attempting to achieve a hive mentality that will give them ultimate power. This power-hungry group will not hesitate to use their own young as test subjects.

Caressed by Ice was another wonderful addition to the overall series. I loved watching the packs work together and learning more about this world. I am anxious to move on to the next couple in Mine to Possess. There are currently fourteen books and oodles of novellas in this series available. The last book releases this summer.

Quotes from Caressed By Ice

“God, you’re sexy when you talk Psy.”

“She was more than willing to let him walk off his temper. And the man had one, even if he wasn’t willing to admit it.”

“You’re walking funny,” Lucy said, a shit-eating grin on her face. Five days of out of this world sex with a starving man could do that to a girl.

“You’re just jealous.” Brenna pushed through the door into DarkRiver’s business HQ.

Lucy made a mournful face. “Yes, I am. Goddamn but your man is hot. And he smiles at you! I’ve seen him do it, even if no one believes me.”

I dropped this series a few books after this one because I didn’t like the Psy. But for some reason I liked this book. I like I like the men Psy better than the women. LOL

  2. Melanie Simmons

This is one of my favorite books in the series. I just loved Judd and Brenna. I’m also a huge fan of this series because of the overall story arc. I think it is a great story, it is almost a UF the series arc is so strong. Glad to see you’re enjoying them.

  3. Lorna

This is the next in line for me and I have it in paperback-which I think is the main reason I haven’t read it yet. I am just spoiled by my Kindle. I am also listening to her Rock series as well.Great review!

  4. Braine Talk Supe

I don’t know when I’m going to touch this series. There’s so many books out already! Big props to you for getting started 🙂

I started 2 years ago, picking series on my forever wish list and focusing on them. So far I have completed 2 and now I am working on this and BDB

I look forward to more reviews from this series to see what you think. I am re-reading the books and enjoying it all over again. It’s such a vast unique world and the characters wow!

  7. Melissa (Books and Things)

I have yet to start these books and I so want to get into them. This sounds like a series right up my alley and every time I see a review of the series I want to start it. I’m glad you have and I can live through you until I dive in myself. 😀

  8. Kathryn

I adore her books, and am just waiting for the recent one to read it, I have come to love all the characters and this one evidently is a general one that has many of them in it. I read this series like a maniac – pretty much as far through as it went at the time!

  9. Maja (The Nocturnal Library)

Has it been ten years since this series started coming out? Wow. I remember liking the first and the second book, but I never really continued for some reason. I developed PNR allergies along the way. Nevertheless, even I know that when it comes to PNR, Nalini is THE author to read.

While I’ve been reading more paranormals lately I haven’t been pulled into the whole shape shifter thing and in general they don’t really appeal to me but Singh’s books always sounds so amazing. This sounds like a good way to be introduced to the whole shifter world.

I’m not usually into paranormals, but I have loved some of Nalini Singh’s contemporaries, so I’m thinking I should try these. I’m so glad to see you loved this.

I’m so happy you enjoyed this!!! *happy dance* Mine to Possess I think was one of my favorites out of the books I’ve already read in this series (I stopped at Blaze of Memory). Yay!!

  13. Nelle

I haven’t read this author yet! I’ve heard many great things about her and her characters though! Might be time for me to dive in!

  14. Tanya

Oh Judd and Brenna are awesome. I’m so glad you are having as much fun with this series as I did! Judd’s powers made for some interesting times didn’t they?

  15. Jenny

BRENNA AND JUDD!!!! Two of my favorites in this series! I need to go back and read the early books, I miss these characters. I’m so glad you’re enjoying your time in the Psy-Changeling world Kim:)

I’ve heard AMAZING things about this author’s books, and especially her couples. I saw she had written a contemporary series too, so I think I’ll start with that one first because I’m generally more comfortable with the genre than paranormal, but I have to admit I’m very interested in this series too.
I’m glad you liked this one too, Kim!
    Great review!
