I am continuing my journey with the October Daye urban fantasy series on audio. Night and Silence by Seanan McGuire is the twelfth audiobook narrated by Mary Robinette Kowal. Toby has suffered and needs a quest, just not the one she will get.

Now the twelfth installment of the Hugo-nominated, New York Times best-selling Toby Daye urban fantasy series!
Things are not okay.
In the aftermath of Amandine's latest betrayal, October "Toby" Daye's fragile self-made family is on the verge of coming apart at the seams. Jazz can't sleep, Sylvester doesn't want to see her, and worst of all, Tybalt has withdrawn from her entirely, retreating into the Court of Cats as he tries to recover from his abduction. Toby is floundering, unable to help the people she loves most heal. She needs a distraction. She needs a quest.
What she doesn't need is the abduction of her estranged human daughter, Gillian. What she doesn't need is to be accused of kidnapping her own child by her ex-boyfriend and his new wife, who seems to be harboring secrets of her own. There's no question of whether she'll take the case. The only question is whether she's emotionally prepared to survive it.
Signs of Faerie's involvement is everywhere, and it's going to take all Toby's nerve and all her allies to get her through this web of old secrets, older hatreds, and new deceits. If she can't find Gillian before time runs out, her own child will pay the price.
Two questions remain: Who in Faerie remembered Gillian existed? And what do they stand to gain?
No matter how this ends, Toby's life will never be the same.
A knock at the door will soon have Toby forgetting about the fragile state of her family left in the aftermath of Amandine shenanigans. It seems Toby’s human daughter, Gillian, has been kidnapped. Her ex-boyfriend and his new wife seem to think Toby is involved.
The tale that unfolds leads Toby to Faerie and held me captive from beginning to end. Secrets, hatreds, and deceits from the accused have Toby and her allies working on a quest she cannot bear to fail.
McGuire has built a world and storyline that pulls me in every time. I love Toby and her misfit family. October “Toby” Daye is a character who has grown throughout the series. She has never had it easy or truly known a mother’s love. Instead of wallowing in self-pity or saying enough is enough, she gets up and gets shit done. She is a knight, a hero, and in Night and Silence she will be tested.
Twists, secrets and fae history held me spellbound even as I worried for Gillian. Each book in the series continues to be fresh and add depth. Currently, there are seventeen audiobooks in the series. Mary Robinette Kowal narrates the series and, for me, has become an integral part of the story. While the tale is already wonderful, she enhances it by bringing voice to these characters.
Night and Silence Seanan McGuire narrated by Mary Robinette Knowal will push Toby and others to their limited. #audiobook #OctoberDaye #urbanfantasy Share on XStay Caffeinated!
