Each book in the explosive Silence Jones Action Thrillers Series is a stand-alone mission, and there is no chronological order, aside from book one, The Suppressor, the character’s origin story.

The author states in the blurb that these books are all standalone and can be read in any order. I am going to say as a reader/listener that while each book contains a new mission and is self-contained, character growth and reveals allow you to get to know Silence Jones, a little more with each story. If you plan to read the series, do so in the order of their release.

Tight-Lipped has a slightly different feel than the previous audiobooks. The story has more depth and Carter peels back the layers of our anti-hero. The mission proves to be more complex, and it was exciting to see the series deepen. Jones will see more intense action and the case requires more traveling with plenty of twists and turns to keep the listener engaged.

We learn a little more about the secret agency that Silence works for and see links or perhaps assistance from some of the public organizations within our government.

With each audiobook we get glimpses of Silence Jones’ life before and of that of Cici, the woman he lost. Because speaking is difficult, Jones continues to be a man of few words. It is his neighbor, the elderly Mrs. Enfield, who sheds the most light on our silent assassin. From the way he treats her to their interactions. Despite his bloody occupation and thirst for revenge, it is difficult not to like Jones.

The case once again is intense, as Jones has to gain the trust of a woman he meets. It will have him crossing state-lines which adds to the excitement and difficulties. Suspense, danger and nonstop action await you.

While this is a high-body count, gritty and sometimes violent thriller, Carter also infuses lighter moments and subtle humor.

Gary Bennett has become the voice of Silence Jones and aids in setting the tone of this action-packed thriller. His voice enhances the overall tale, picking up on the nuances the author intends and bringing them to the listener.
