THEY TOOK HIS LOVE.
THEY TOOK HIS VOICE.
HE’LL TAKE THEIR LIVES.Before he became a vigilante assassin, a legend feared by criminals, Silence Jones’s previous life was stolen from him in one night—his fiancée murdered, his throat crushed, and his face destroyed.
His brutal revenge leaves behind a long trail of mangled bodies, which captures the attention of a covert group hidden in plain sight within U.S. government. The organization makes Silence an irresistible offer: if he joins their ranks as an assassin, they’ll lend their full support to his blood-soaked rampage.
But when Silence discovers that the people who killed his fiancée have much bigger plans in mind—plans with deadly implications for national security—his mission suddenly shifts focus from vengeance to duty. A catastrophe is ready to explode, and the only person who can stop it is an untested assassin.
This is the first full-length novel in the Silence Jones action-thriller series. We meet Jake Rowe, codename, the Suppressor, an ex-police officer, on probation as an Asset for the Watchers – a covert, black ops team that spies on those in power and punishes the corrupt. In a nutshell, Jake is an assassin, and he is ok with that vengeance is at the for-front of his thoughts.
Jake shows no mercy, drinks a little too much, and is enjoying the accommodations provided by the Watchers. We tag along as Jake works his way through targets as he goes after Burton. He squeezes all the intel he can gather from each before finishing them. Mercy is for the weak, but as he gathers intel he realizes this goes deeper than he or the Watchers thought.
We get some flashbacks regarding Jake’s past before he left the police department and became an asset. We learn more about the crime syndicate and how the Watchers rescued him.
Fans of vigilante thrillers and high body counts will love this fast-paced tale. Silence Jones is a force to be reckoned with, and even though he is broken, we still catch glimpses of the cop below. While he isn’t following the law, one cannot help but feel for Jones and root for him.
Gary Bennett narrators and brings Jones to life in full 3-D from the way he portrays him to the emotion he brings. Bennett’s voice and tone are perfect for this assassin, allowing listeners to connect.
If you remember, I listened to Deadly Silence, the prequel which published after Hush, Hush, first and stated I wasn’t sure if I had done the right thing. While it didn’t hurt, I think listening in the order of their release is the way to go. It would have made the prequel more impactful.
The Suppressor by Erik Carter is the first full-length audio in the Silence Jones Action-Thriller series. Revenge and a nefarious plot soon have Jones on the hunt. #Thriller #SilenceJones #GaryBennett Share on XStay Caffeinated!
