An all-new novel set in the Kate Daniels World and featuring Julie Lennart-Olsen, Kate and Curran's ward.

Atlanta was always a dangerous city. Now, as waves of magic and technology compete for supremacy, it’s a place caught in a slow apocalypse, where monsters spawn among the crumbling skyscrapers and supernatural factions struggle for power and survival.

Eight years ago, Julie Lennart left Atlanta to find out who she was. Now she’s back with a new face, a new magic, and a new name—Aurelia Ryder—drawn by the urgent need to protect the family she left behind. An ancient power is stalking her adopted mother, Kate Daniels, an enemy unlike any other, and a string of horrifying murders is its opening gambit.

If Aurelia’s true identity is discovered, those closest to her will die. So her plan is simple: get in, solve the murders, prevent the prophecy from being fulfilled, and get out without being recognized. She expected danger, but she never anticipated that the only man she'd ever loved could threaten everything.

One small misstep could lead to disaster. But for Aurelia, facing disaster is easy; it’s relationships that are hard.

I love slipping into the Kate Daniels’ world and spent an entire snowy Sunday listening to Blood Heir by Ilona Andrews. This is the first in the Aurelia Ryder series. We are back in Atlanta and trouble is brewing.

Narrated by Suzanne Elise Freeman, I slipped right into the story as Julie Lennart crossed the bridge to Atlanta as Aurelia Ryder. She has a new face, magic and a mission she cannot fail.

When Julia left without saying goodbye, we needed answers and Aurelia returns with them.

This is not a homecoming. In fact, it is very important that Aurelia not see Kate or Curran. To do so will further fulfill a prophecy she is here to stop.

Ermahgerd!! Right? I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

I do think, if you haven’t listened/read the Kate Daniels series, that you could begin here. The Andrews did a stellar job of introducing the world for newbies. But, then go back and read or listen to everything they’ve done.

Our Julie is all grown-up and kickass! Let’s just say her grandmother has taught her a lot. I’ll leave you to discover her secrets.

Aurelia is confident, except for her interactions with a certain silver wolf. *winks* She reminds me of Kate and we hear how much she respects and admires her adoptive mother. She is traveling with only her horse and a few magic tricks.

Derek Gaunt is back and the chemistry between him, and Aurelia reminds me of Kate and Curran. Squee! The banter and bickering was delightful!

We see familiar characters and catch a little news on favorites. This was everything I hoped it would be and more. I loved the banter, the romance, and the evil plots. The Andrews’ weaved in humor, suspense and danger.

Suzanne Elise Freeman brought Aurelia and the characters to life. I love listening to the Andrews stories on audio. The characters’ humor, fear, banter and unique personalities pop to life, bringing a whole new level of enjoyment to these stories.

Now if you’ll excuse me I am off to visit Unicorn Lane again…..

Blood Heir by Ilona Andrews delivers everything fans could hope for and more while inviting new readers. #audiobook #mustlisten #SuzanneEliseFreeman #AureliaRyder Click To Tweet

I have yet to visit the world of Kate Daniels. It sounds like you had wonderful time with this one.

I enjoyed this one. Maybe not as much as the other books because I don’t know why but I always feel the same with her spin off novels but it was nice
