From the New York Times bestselling author of the Chicagoland Vampires Novels--the hunter becomes the hunted in a New Orleans devastated by a Paranormal war....
When bounty hunter Liam Quinn discovered that Claire Connolly was a Sensitive and infected with magic, he should have turned her in to be locked up in the prison district known as Devil's Isle. Instead, he helped her learn to control her power and introduced her to an underground group of Paranormals and humans who know the truth about the war and those who fought it.
Now the weight of Liam's own secrets has forced him into hiding. When a government agent is killed and Claire discovers that Liam is the prime suspect, she races to find him before the government can. But she'll discover proving his innocence is no simple matter. Their enemies are drawing closer, and time is running out....
THE HUNT by Chloe Neill is the third novel in the Devil’s Isle urban fantasy series set in New Orleans, Louisiana. This was another addictive edition with some reveals, a race to exonerate Liam and an ending that has me craving the next installment. Neill’s Devil’s Isle series offers a rich world, a strong heroine and plenty of action against the backdrop of a dystopian New Orleans.
It’s gotten to the point in the series where I will need to be vague to keep this spoiler free. I recommend that the series be read in order of release.
THE HUNT picks up a few months after THE SIGHT ended. Liam Quinn is deep in the bayou after his encounter with the Revillon leader left him changed. Claire is in hiding after she exposed herself as a Sensitive. She now works with an organization known as Delta to resist sanctions by the PCC (Paranormal Combatant Command. She and others sneak supplies into Devil’s Isle, a stronghold for Paras.
Liam and Moses are scavenging for goods in an abandoned home when Malachi, a former general of the Consularis army shows up along with Gavin, Liam’s brother with troubling news. A commander of the PCC has been murdered and Liam Quinn is wanted for murder. A bounty has also been issued for Claire.
This was interesting as Liam and Claire have taken a step back in their relationship and are on unsure footing after the events in THE SIGHT. Claire is determined to accompany Gavin to warn Liam and maybe get some answers. The travel out of NOLA and into the rural areas proved interesting with some paranormal encounters and intense scenes.
It isn’t long before we are back in NOLA with Liam in tow. With a high bounty on his head and those of his friends, clearing his name won’t be easy. Neill delivers some revelations, as we face danger, lay our trust in others and encounter new problems that could mean the end for everyone.
Neill writes an addictive tale and admittedly I devoured THE HUNT. I love the world she has created from the different types of Para and the war-torn remains of NOLA. She continues to flesh out key characters while weaving in friendship, romance and hilarious moments. We see some development with Liam and Claire, learn secrets and make discoveries regarding Claire’s past. Claire is really coming into her own and is a worthy heroine.
The ending almost felt like it came too easily and then wham, Neill had me on edge and screaming for the next book!
THE HUNT is a must-read for fans of urban fantasy and will fit in nicely between your Ilona Andrews and Patricia Briggs novels on your bookshelf.

You know, I loved the first book, but the sequel really disappointed me. It looks like this one will work for me though. I’m glad that they are taking a step back from the relationship. I’m also desperate to figure out what the twist is at the end.
