In A Killing Frost by Seanan McGuire Faerie’s archaic marriage traditions, have Toby searching for Simon Torquill, who isn’t her biological father but by faerie law is her father. This time, Tybalt won’t be accompanying her, and she’ll find more than anyone bargained for. If you haven’t begun the October Daye series, I highly suggest you begin!

When October is informed that Simon Torquill—legally her father, due to Faerie's archaic marriage traditions—must be invited to her wedding or risk the ceremony throwing the Kingdom in the Mists into political turmoil, she finds herself setting out on a quest she was not yet prepared to undertake for the sake of her future.... and the man who represents her family's past.
A Killing Frost is the fourteenth audiobook in the October Daye urban fantasy series. I have been devouring the series all year and plan to finish with the newest one. Like most urban fantasy, the series is best listened to in the order of its release. Mary Robinette Kowal narrates and does so brilliantly. I love her voices for these characters.
Wedding plans are underway when Toby learns of an archaic rule. Her father must attend the ceremony or it could cause the Court of the Mists political turmoil. Of course, those in her circle didn’t tell her because if you don’t know, you don’t know… but now she knows!
Toby is warned not to take Tybalt. You can imagine how pleased he was with this news. So she takes Mae, her fetch, and Quintin, her squire. The tale that unfolds was so good with twists, blood, death, treachery, reunions, friendships and more.
I laughed, got mad, whooped aloud, and completely lost myself in the listening. Toby has a habit of jumping first, was unleashed without Tybalt to urge caution and lordy, she made me nervous.
I am in awe of the complex world McGuire has created, and here you see the full scope of that world and its complexities. She is one of my favorite authors for this reason. Her worlds and characters are brilliant and paced perfectly to pull the listener in and never let go.
A tale not to be missed! I confess I immediately picked up the next audiobook.

I only collect books by authors I love to read. Especially when I order the H.B. versions. My library contains almost 3000 books.
