New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis does it once again with a heartfelt story of family, forgiveness, and secrets that have the power to change the course of more than one life.
When Maze returns to Wildstone for the wedding of her estranged bff and the sister of her heart, it’s also a reunion of a once ragtag team of teenagers who had only each other until a tragedy tore them apart and scattered them wide.
Now as adults together again in the lake house, there are secrets and resentments mixed up in all the amazing childhood memories. Unexpectedly, they instantly fall back into their roles: Maze their reckless leader, Cat the den mother, Heather the beloved baby sister, and Walker, a man of mystery.
Life has changed all four of them in immeasurable ways. Maze and Cat must decide if they can rebuild their friendship, and Maze discovers her long-held attraction to Walker hasn’t faded with the years but has only grown stronger
Come meet Maze, Walker, Caitlin, and Heather. They spent time together as children and stayed close because of a tragedy that scattered them. The Forever Girl by Jill Shalvis is part of the Wildstone series and the perfect place to dive into this standalone companion series.
I love this series and its seaside setting. In this sixth book we meet Maze, Heather, Walker and Caitlin as they gather graveside. Something they have done yearly since they separated after that fateful night. There is tension and guilt. But we gain a glimpse of their bond, personalities, and love for one another.
Fast forward and the group is coming together for Caitlin’s wedding. Cat can’t stand that they have become estranged, but she has a plan to rekindle their bonds.
I loved getting to know each of them. Heather brings a surprise plus one and Maze hearing Walker will bring a date, brings her boss and friend as her plus one. Walker arrives alone. I adored Walker, who looks, after all, even if he sometimes fumbles. You can feel the chemistry between Maze and Walker. It was interesting getting their backstory, even if I wanted to slap them both for not communicating!
This was a heartfelt story of family, second chance romances and new beginnings. I laughed, occasionally pulled my hair out and shed some tears.
While the romance focuses on Maze and Walker, we see secondary romances develop and more. Each thread was engaging and added to the overall story.
You’ll want to grab a cup of cocoa or a glass of wine and curl up by the fire with The Forever Girl.

Great review! I loved this on audio. The relationships, character growth, the support group of all of them was wonderful. But I agree about the communication.

I enjoyed this story too! Loved all the characters and hope Heather and Cat get their own stories.

I need to read more of her books. I’ve read one and I like her writing style but since I read more PNR I need to find one that really sticks out to me to read.

I adored this book. The romance was great, but the family focus was even better.

This sounds like a lovely book. I started a new series, but I will look into this book too, as it does seem very interesting too.
