A gruesome case of grave robbing lands on Detective Constable Emma Bellamy's desk. But is there more to it than meets the eye?

Being the sole police detective in London's Supernatural Squad is no easy task. I have to navigate my way through a world teeming with supernatural creatures, from vampires to werewolves and everything else in between. My inexperience might count against me but my own shocking supernatural abilities will stand me in good stead - especially when I'm confronted yet again by the gruesome spectre of death...

A vampire has been mysteriously killed in the centre of the city.

Werewolf graves have been plundered for their bodies.

And I think I might be developing an ill-advised crush on a certain black eyed vampire Lord.

Detective Constable Emma Bellamy is the solo police officer on London’s Supernatural Squad. In Helen Harper’s Infernal Enchantment, narrated by Ruth Urquhart someone or something is robbing graveyards.

This is the second audiobook in the Firebrand, urban fantasy series. It takes place in an alternate London where the supernatural are out and live in their own communities. Rules have been established between the humans and prenaturals from number of turnings to parks.

In the first installment Emma learned she isn’t quite human, in Infernal Enchantment she learns what she is. No time to digest all that because, once again, Emma has her hands full tracking down a grave robber, dealing with upset humans, and investigating a mysterious death.

All of that while dealing with the weres and vampires and their power plays. She is doing a superb job of commanding their respect. She is clever and while she isn’t the most experienced police officer; she is feisty and determined. I enjoyed watching the investigations and seeing her make her own power plays. I laughed, cringed, and became caught up in the tale.

We’ve also got a bit of a romance. It is a slow-build and a curious one at that. I am looking forward to the next audiobook. From the pacing to the quirky characters it’s easy to become swept up.

Ruth Urquhart narrated and as always I enjoy listening to her. Her accent, use of tones and array of voices are simply put delightful.

Fans of detective style urban fantasy will enjoy the Firebrand series.
