The fate of millions rests on Keystone when they embark on their most important assignment of all…

After what was supposed to be a simple job, Raven and Christian uncover a sinister plot against the higher authority, and the stakes are as high as the body count. The assassins are merciless, with anyone who stands in their way becoming collateral damage. Meanwhile, Raven is still struggling to make sense of her feelings for Christian following a memory wipe.

During a blackout, the city erupts into chaos. With Breed on the brink of war, Keystone has only twenty-four hours to complete a secret mission. Raven seeks help from the most unlikely of places, but at what cost?

It’s a race against time to save lives in this explosive installment of the Crossbreed series.

Blackout is the fifth novel in the Crossbreed urban fantasy series by Dannika Dark. Narrated by Nicole Poole I quickly devoured this audio. From a suspenseful assignment to characters that stole a piece of my heart Dark delivered.

I tried to make this one last, but oh man Blackout was so intense, with developments surrounding Christian and Raven’s memory wipe. It all started out so nicely with some toe curling moments before the city suffers a massive blackout and things turn deadly. Assassins, plots against the higher authority and Christian as a member of the clergy..oh lordy.

Dannika Dark continues to amaze me, torture me and further endear me to the motley crew of misfit breed who make up the Keystone organization. A new character, Raven’s maker and secrets made for an explosive storyline.

Confession, I adore Christian. Sure he is flawed and has made some serious mistakes, but dang it the man has owned my heart since the Mageri series. He hasn’t given up, despite Raven’s memory loss and I swooned at his efforts. Their chemistry is sizzling, and the way he protects her could be he downfall.

Raven has had a rough life and has finally found a home within the walls of Keystone. As a member of the team she is sharp, intuitive and someone I’d want covering me… but when it comes to her personal life. Ugh! Her relationship with her creator makes me nuts and I wish she had a little more faith in Christian.

The intense storyline had me holding my breath and biting my nails. Dark really has me emotionally invested in these characters, and I like that with each novel, we learn more about different team members and their personalities. Raven seeks help from two sources and both have chain reactions. I will let you decide if it was good or not.

Nicole Poole continues to narrate. She is the jelly in Dark’s peanut butter sandwich. Her voices, pacing and ability to capture the emotions of scenes was music to my ears.

I was hoping for resolution after a surprise turn of events..but alas Dark left us hanging. Now I am left waiting once again for the next Crossbreed audio. I cannot stand the wait. Why didn’t I savor this longer?

Blackout was addictive, explosive, and heartfelt but left me in a fetal position pining for the next installment. If you haven’t yet tried this author or series, now is the time to jump in. As with any urban fantasy series it is best to start at the beginning.

Narrated by Nicole Poole, Blackout by Dannika Dark was a nail biting installment to the Crossbreed series that left me in a fetal position and pining for the next installment. #audiobooks #mustlisten #urban Click To Tweet

I finally got a chance to try Nicole Poole’s narration in a cozy mystery series and I also bought a couple Dark boxed sets to help catch up. Glad to see that snazzy five star up there for this latest series. Love how you describe Christian and how the book captivated you leaving you dying for the next one. 🙂

I listened and loved it too. I couldn’t believe that it ended with a cliffhanger. That’s a first for her! I really need to write a review. I went a little nuts on Net Galley and I’m behind. Glad you loved it too!

All her series seem to be winners and great on audio. I have to get to this author, sometime soon. At lease I’ll be able to binge through without waiting, right? Anne – Books of My Heart
