I love the universe Dark has created, and while the Crossbreed series remains my favorite, I love the diverse group that makes up the Black Arrowhead pack. This is Lucian Cross’s story. He is the only Chetah in the pack and specializes in technology and security. Lucian isn’t looking for love when he steps in to help Shifter Councilwoman Eden Thompson. The tale that unfolds pulled me in and never let me go.
Eden Thompson loves her job, but she loves her dad more. When her job brings danger to their front door, she hires Lucian to update her security system. The chemistry between them in sizzling. She is looking for a mate to ease her father’s worries, which is why she has been dating recently. Although Lucian isn’t searching for a mate, after a passionate night together, they agree to continue their affair and keep it a secret.
Eep! I loved the banter and play between these two cat shifters almost as much as I enjoyed learning their pasts, exploring their baggage, and watching them grow closer. Dark delivered the heat between them and their connection felt genuine.
Danger comes when some of her marriage suitors can’t take no for an answer and things get intense. Dark had me listening past my bedtime as Lucian finds himself caught in the middle and Eden wants only to protect those she loves. This was a dark thread filled with magic, danger, and men who take what they want.
Time spent with the pack only enhanced my enjoyment of their story. I love this motley crew and how they uplift and even tease each other. For fans of the series, we get to meet a new pack member. I will let you discover more for yourself. Pack events, funny and tender moments helped to lighten the darker moments of the story.
Nicole Poole narrates and I love the vibe she brings to these stories. Both her male and female voices are unique and I can name all of them just by listening to the voices she has created for them. Her narration amped up my enjoyment of this addictive story.
