Colleen Hoover, the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe Someday brilliantly brings to life the story of the wonderfully hilarious and charismatic Warren in a new novella, Maybe Not. When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change. Or maybe not. Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory. Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love? Maybe. Maybe not.

Truffles smartfunny ROMANCE

Ya’ll know I usually skip all the prequels and novellas between books with very few exceptions, but after reading and loving Maybe Someday –I just had to have Warren and Bridgette’s story. Thus I picked up  Maybe Not  by Colleen Hoover. I am so glad I did because- Warren, Warren, Warren. The man is hilarious, sweet, and yeah ridiculously swoon-worthy.

The events in Maybe Not deal with Warren when a new roommate named Bridgette moves in. From the moment they meet it is hilarious and yet edgy. There is some overlap to Maybe Someday but not enough to make it lack freshness. If you have read Maybe Someday, it offers some hilarious explanations to both Warren and Bridgette’s behavior. Oh lord, these two are cray-cray and their romance is deliciously complicated.

I loved the wicked banter, snark and pranks between the two of them. I laughed, snorted aloud and smiled like an idiot while reading Maybe Not. At around 130 pages, it was the perfect late night read with all the feels only Colleen Hoover can deliver.

Maybe Not can totally be read as a standalone but if you decide to read both then read them in order..it makes it more enjoyable.

This sounds like a novella worth reading! I love Colleen Hoover’s stories. “Wicked Banter, Snark, and Pranks;” I need to read this 🙂 Great review Kim!

  2. Mary

I tend to skip prequels, too, even with my favorite series but sometimes, they’re totally worth it!

  3. Berls

I skip a lot of prequels/novellas too, but I’ll have to be sure not to skip this one. Ever since reading Ugly Love, I’ve planned to read the rest of CoHo’s books! Like you said, she really delivers the FEELS!

  4. Sharon

  5. Lorna

I think it must have been your review that made me buy Maybe Someday and I loved it. I had pretty much decided to not read Maybe Not, but now you have talked me into it! Thanks 🙂

  6. Bookworm Brandee

I haven’t read Maybe Someday yet – although it’s on my schedule – so I’ll make sure not to skip this novella once I have. I’m glad you didn’t skip it and enjoyed it. Warren sounds like he might be my kinda guy. 😉

I don’t like novella’s very much either….But I love it when you get one that’s worth the time. I have had the first book on my TBR pile for a little while :).

I really liked this book as well, it had too many steamy scenes though, two would have been enough. Lovely review.

“I loved the wicked banter, snark and pranks between the two of them” — sparks my interest in this book. Thanks for the post!

  14. Amir

I have never read anything from Colleen Hoover. o.O crazy right?! Maybe I should ease in…try with a novella like this one. This sounds more lighthearted than her other novels because every time I read a review of her books, it always seems to deliver a bucketload of feels! Awesome review Kimba! 🙂

I’ve been meaning to read this one if only for the sole purpose of finding out more about Warren. I’m not into reading novella’s but he made me laugh so much in Maybe, Someday that i’d love to be inside his head. Great review Kim!

  16. Candace

I’ve seen the authors posts on Facebook and I know she’s hilarious. I should give her books a try one of these days.

Awwww! I miss Colleen Hoover’s writing! You’ve totally reminded me that I need to read the first book! Must have that ordered at library (oh, the wicked powers I think I have *insert evil laugh*). I love witty guy banter so much 🙂 And nothing is better than an stubborn woman… tee, hee! Great review!

I finally purchased a book by this author! I have yet to read it though. Baby steps, right? 😀 I’ve heard that Maybe Someday is definitely a book I need to read. This sounds so fun – I love roommate to lovers romances. Soo fun!

  19. Christy

Oh how I love these two. And yeah, it was interesting discovering exactly why B was there and her connection – something we never knew in Maybe Someday.

  20. Ramona

I think I need to consider Maybe Someday – snark and hilarious pranks sound so good! Not one for novellas and prequels either, though, as with all things I will make some exceptions. Lovely review, Kimba, hope you’re back safe and that you’re recovering well from that 18-h drive. Hugs xx

  21. Sophia Rose

Novellas and prequels in a series are hit and miss for me, but I can never resist when its favorite characters that I get to see more of.

  22. Braine

I usually skip the shorts and novellas too. But there are volumes that one HAS to read. Just like this

  23. Quinn's Book Nook

I still need to read Maybe Someday. I have a copy of the book, but just haven’t gotten there yet. I’m glad you enjoyed this novella. I really want to meet Warren!

  24. Nick

I just recently read Maybe Someday and LOVED it! I have to read this novella too, because Colleen Hoover is the only author whose novellas I can actually handle!
Lovely review! Can’t wait to experience the fun between Warren and Bridigette!

  25. Debbie Haupt

I for one Love the .5s Novellas give that tell those all important co-star stories. Thanks for the great review!!

  26. Jenny

I haven’t read anything by Colleen Hoover yet (I know!), but I think this is the place to start Kim! I’ve avoided her books mostly because I know they’ll rip my heart to shreds and I have to work my way up to those kinds of books, but this one sounds like it’s a bit more fun, so I’m adding it to my list for sure:)

  27. kindlemom1

I meant to read this during the TBR challenge and just couldn’t squeeze it in. 🙁 I am so glad you managed to though and that you really enjoyed it. I just love her work.

  28. Grace

Love this review. Maybe Someday is my favorite Colleen book. Because of this I was afraid to read Maybe Not in case it tainted how much I loved Maybe Someday – Sounds like I need to read this though!

  29. Maja (The Nocturnal Library)

I have yet to read anything at all by Colleen Hoover, which is sort of embarassing to admit. I’ve heard so much praise, and yet contemporary, and especially NA, is really not my thing. Still, I should at least try. I might end up surprised.

  30. Renee

I do love those swoon worthy heroes!! They are just the best, and I have been wanting to try this author out. Novella seems like a great way to start.
