Fact or fiction: becoming a lumberjack and marrying your best friend so she can inherit her family business is a great idea.
When Addison “Roe” Monroe tells me she’s going on a husband hunt at the local lumberjack competition so she can inherit her father’s lumberyard, I think she has finally lost her mind.
But my stubborn friend, who would rather drive a forklift than get her nails done, refused my first marriage offer. And since I can’t stomach watching Roe hitch her wagon to some hulking ax wielder who might be a serial killer, I decide that desperate times require desperate measures.
Call me Lumberjack Luke.
I’ll do whatever it takes to get her to accept my proposal because she’s more than just a friend. And the way she looks back at me? I think she knows it.
On the surface, I’m offering a marriage of convenience to protect her. But the truth is…I’m hopelessly in love with my best friend.
Marrying her and moving her up to Fletcher Mountain might mean I’ve lost my mind too, but so be it.
Because the only thing I would regret more, is never trying.
And that’s a fact.
The Honeymoon Phase by Amy Daws is the third book in the hilarious, sexy, Montain Men Matchmaker series. I ended up grabbing this from the library and quickly devoured it. This story belongs to Luke Fletcher, the third brother, and Addison “Roe” Monroe.
Fletcher has a thing for Roe. A serious thing, but she isn’t willing to risk losing her BFF. Problem is, Roe needs to marry or her father is going to sell off the family lumberyard. Roe loves the business and wants to run it, but her Dad thinks otherwise. Her plan? Marry for a year, fulfilling her father’s request and keep her business.
I absolutely loved the efforts Fletcher went to in this fake marriage arrangement, from the chicken to his meddling siblings and niece; I was all in. Swoons, giggles, even a few tears made this the perfect romance if you like small-town vibes, family, brothers, friends to lovers romances, and animals. I cannot wait for the fourth book featuring Everly, Flectcher’s meddling niece. I recommend reading this series in order. You won’t want to miss a single story.

Augustine Montgomery is an Illusion Prime who owns a premier PI corporation and alters his appearance with magic. The people who have seen Augustine’s real face can be counted on the fingers of one hand. The people who witnessed the full extent of his power are dead. The illusion isn’t just the brand of his magic. It’s become his lifestyle.
Show as little as possible. Make them think that illusion is all you have. Your life depends on it.
Augustine lives by this creed. He’s cold, rational, and calculating. He doesn’t get emotionally involved. Then one day Diana Harrison walks into his office and asks for his help. Diana is a Prime, an animal mage who bonds with animals through her magic and prefers their company to humans. Something precious has been stolen from House Harrison. Something Diana must recover at all costs.
The two Houses are allied through a friendship pact. Assisting Diana is simply good business. And yet, there is something about her that disturbs the careful balance of Augustine’s inner world.
Neither of them is who they appear to be. Both would die to keep their secrets. But the enemy they face is more powerful than either had imagined, and saving the life that hangs in the balance will demand the ultimate price neither Augustine nor Diana ever anticipated to pay – complete honesty.
The Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews is the only series I read, preferring to listen to her other series. If you like humans with superpowers and Prime houses combined with romance, suspense, and mystery, you will love this fast-paced series. In Beast Business, we get a story involving Augustine Montgomery, head of House Montgomery, and Diana Harrison, head of House Harrison. It was so good, and I fell confident you could read this without reading the others. Just as I feel confident, you will then want to read them all!
Diana hires Augustine to help her find a missing cub, and the two partner up. Once again, this writing duo pulled me in and did not let go. I loved the back-and-forth banter, Diana’s kickassary and the side characters that had me grinning with glee. I absolutely loved getting to know Augustine and Diana, both powerful Primes, and cannot wait for stories from the Hidden Legacy world.
