From bestselling author David R. Slayton, Redneck Revenant is an exciting new chapter in the Adam Binder series.

Adam Binder’s life has never been better. Sure, he has no money, no car, no home to call his own, and he’s worried about creating a future with his boyfriend Vic, but he’s closer to his family than ever before. He’s also Page to the Elven Court of Swords, and that appointment is not without its perks—like the invisible sword strapped to his back.

But on Halloween night, Adam’s life takes a disturbing turn. Annie, his brother’s long-lost wife, turns up on her husband’s doorstep alive and well, with no memory of her death. But is it really Annie, or a Trojan horse from some new magical enemy?

To uncover the truth, Adam will need help from those he loves most—as well as a couple of friends at Rogue Community College. As he navigates a perilous maze of magical politics and battles terrifying creatures from beyond the known realms, Adam will discover a secret darker and more unsettling than anything he could have imagined.

Michael David Axtell continues to narrate the Adam Binder series and does a stellar job of giving voice to these characters. Redneck Revenant is the fourth audiobook, and I recommend listening to them in the order of their release. Some time has passed since Deadbeat Druid and Adam, our warlock and Page to the Elven Court of Swords, is still with his boyfriend, Vic, and adjusting to the changes in his life. When Annie, his brother Bobby’s long-lost wife, turns up with no memory, Adam wonders if she is really his brother’s wife or something else entirely. The tale that unfolded was intense, with plenty of twists that pulled me in and never let go. Like Annie’s parents, who are very creepy. If you enjoy urban fantasy with a blend of humor, mystery, and family, you’ll want to check out the Adam Binder series.

"The weirdness level of my life has reached an all-time high. Which is saying something, considering I started out as a psychic conman and somehow ended up as a MagiPol agent. And not just any agent. Lately, I've been Captain Blythe's right-hand man and most trusted confidant.

Yeah, I know. Super weird.

It's also kind of awkward because, unbeknownst to her, I've also teamed up with her most loathed nemesis, Darius King, guild master of the Crow and Hammer and the number one guy on the Consilium's ""To Be Eliminated"" list.

Oh, and the Consilium? It's just a secret organization embedded deep in the upper echelons of the MPD that's using its nefarious influence to take over the world. Or destroy it. We're still figuring that part out.

""We"" being me and Blythe. And me and Darius. But not Blythe and Darius. Like I said, it's awkward.

Unfortunately, the Consilium knows we're on to them. It's only a matter of time before they reveal how much power they truly wield—and eliminate all three of us for good.

Mage Assassins & Other Misfits is the fifth book in the Warped Series, part of the Guild Codex world. While authors Annette Marie & Rob Jacobsen do a good job of bringing listeners up to speed, I recommend starting from the beginning. Iggy Toma narrates the Warped series and captures Kit and the team at MagiPol. I love this series and Kit is juggling a lot of balls as he teams up with Captain Blythe, but is also working with Darius. It was a fantastic blend of suspense, humor and magic. I like Kit who used to be a psychic conman before joining the force. The authors allow him to shine in this installment, but be warned: the ending will leave you craving the next installment STAT.

Follow Max and crew as they run out of time....Literally in book 8 of the best-selling Max Abaddon Series.

Max finally made his way out of hell—literally, only to find past choices coming back to haunt him.

After clawing his way back, Max is faced with the consequences of his past he can’t escape. He and his band of misfits are about to uncover the terrifying power behind Lilith’s fostered children. As they grow older, they’re becoming harder to hide from a world already on edge.

When tasked with protecting one of Lilith’s oldest runaway children, what seems like a straightforward mission quickly spirals into chaos. Others are hunting the boy, and danger is closing in from all sides.

To make matters worse, the Council has finally found the last piece of King Arthur’s fabled Round Table, setting the stage for an encounter with the Old Gods—an event Max is far from ready for.

With enemies everywhere and time running out, Max and his crew are about to find out just how ready they are.

I love this fast-paced, humorous series narrated by Luke Daniels. Daniels gives voice to these characters and enhances my overall enjoyment of this world. I recommend listening to this series in the order of their release because of overall arcs, character development, and shenanigans. After the events of Max Abaddon and the Gates to Perdition, Max has returned and soon discovers you never really escape your past. The Path of Blood has a lot going on, Max and gang have been tasked with finding a runaway and the council has set the stage for the encounter with the Gods. Eep! Anyone up for a journey back in time? I quickly devoured this, laughing along the way. I enjoy this motley crew of characters and the trouble they encounter.

About Annette Marie

Annette Marie

Annette Marie is the author of YA urban fantasy series Steel & Stone, its prequel trilogy Spell Weaver, and romantic fantasy trilogy Red Winter. Her first love is fantasy, but fast-paced urban fantasy, bold heroines, and tantalizing forbidden romances are her guilty pleasures. She proudly admits she has a thing for dragons, and her editor has politely inquired as to whether she intends to include them in every single book.

About David R. Slayton

David R. Slayton

David R. Slayton grew up in Guthrie, Oklahoma, where finding fantasy novels was pretty challenging and finding fantasy novels with diverse characters was downright impossible. Now he lives in Denver, Colorado, with his partner, Brian, and writes the books he always wanted to read. White Trash Warlock is his first novel. In 2015, David founded Trick or Read, an annual initiative to give out books along with candy to children on Halloween as well as uplift lesser-known authors or those from marginalized backgrounds.

About Justin Leslie

Justin Leslie

Justin S. Leslie is a fervent urban fantasy fan, and newly published author.

He is a retired, highly decorated army major who has completed two combat tours in Afghanistan. Justin has focused on building his own magical worlds to share with readers, as well as enjoying ones created by fellow authors. When he isn't playing music or spending time with his wife and two boys, he can be found in his Doctors Inlet home, immersed in the latest urban fantasy, or a well-made old-fashioned.

About Rob Jacobsen

Rob Jacobsen

Rob is a Canadian writer, actor, and director, who has been in a few TV shows you might watch, had a few films in festivals you might have attended, and authored some stories you might have come across. He's hoping to accomplish plenty more by the time he inevitably dies surrounded by cats while watching reruns of Mr. Robot. Currently, he is the Creative Director of Cave Puppet Films, as well as the co-author of the Guild Codex: Warped book series with Annette Marie.

Thanks for these audiobook reviews! You’ve convinced me to add the first Max Abaddon book to my list—it sounds like a lot of fun. I’m actually participating in the Guild Codex author read-along right now, so I’ll be diving into the Warped books soon! I’m still undecided on the Adam Binder series, but I’ll keep your thoughts in mind. I do so enjoy Urban Fantasy!
