Under One Roof by Ali Hazelwood is the first in the STEMinist Novellas. Mara and Liam’s romance ia a forced proximity romance, and I adored it. It’s the perfect romance to listen for Valentine’s Day.

From the New York Times best-selling author of The Love Hypothesis comes a new steamy, STEMinist novella….
A scientist should never cohabitate with her annoyingly hot nemesis – it leads to combustion.
Mara, Sadie, and Hannah are friends first, scientists always. Though their fields of study might take them to different corners of the world, they can all agree on this universal truth: when it comes to love and science, opposites attract and rivals make you burn….
As an environmental engineer, Mara knows all about the delicate nature of ecosystems. They require balance. And leaving the thermostat alone. And not stealing someone else’s food. And other rules Liam, her detestable big-oil lawyer of a roommate, knows nothing about. Okay, sure, technically she’s the interloper. Liam was already entrenched in his aunt’s house like some glowering grumpy giant when Mara moved in, with his big muscles and kissable mouth just sitting there on the couch tempting respectable scientists to the dark side…but Helena was her mentor and Mara’s not about to move out and give up her inheritance without a fight.
The problem is, living with someone means getting to know them. And the more Mara finds out about Liam, the harder it is to loathe him…and the easier it is to love him.

This is the first story in a three-part novella series involving three best friends. Scientist, Mara, Sadie, and Hannah may not live near each other, but they are best friends til the end. This story belongs to Mara. Mara’s mentor has passed and left her a house in D.C. Which is perfect because she just landed her dream job and cann’t afford the rent. The only problem… she isn’t the only one who owns the house. Mara is an environmentalist engineer and her new roommate Liam works as a lawyer for an oil company!!
I loved this story from their first meet. Liam has always lived in the home. Mara is now invading his space. From the start, it’s clear Liam is a little different (felt like he was on the high end of the spectrum} but then Mara is a total nerd so their awkward meet cute was adorkable and set the tone for the story.
Shared dinner, thermostat battles and missing creamer combined with off the chart chemistry and in their head commentary, I soon found myself laughing, swooning and ducking my head in embarrassment over their antics and conversations. It was delightfully delicious.
I adore Hazlewood’s characters and her books/audios have become must buys. I was so pleased that this novella felt complete and the narration performed by Emma Wilder was stellar. Her portrayal of both Mara and Liam was perfect. At just under four hours, you’ll want to devour this in one sitting.
If you are looking for an adorkable, nerdy, sweet and oh so hot romance, grab your earbuds and listen to Under One Roof. I promise it will leave you smiling.

This looks so cute! I love the academic element that doesn’t have the characters being YA. I’ll have to pick up the 3 novellas.

I finally got around to reading The Love Hypothesis and loved it, of course. Now I have to get a hold of these and listen to them. I was hoping they’d be part of Audible Plus, but I don’t think they are so far. Great review! Can’t wait to get my hands on this one!
