I died for Hostess cupcakes.
I know. Tragic, right?

Even worse, after I came back I still didn’t get any cupcakes.

What I did get, however, is a six-foot-something reaper with eyes like blue fire to guide me into the world of the supernatural. Which, as it turned out, wasn’t quite like the fairytales little girls are told growing up.

Not only is magic real, more importantly, so are monsters.
And apparently, I’m one of them.

But I’m getting ahead of myself here.

You see, four years ago I left my hometown and swore to never come back.

Now my brother is dead and I have no choice but to go searching for answers. Except finding them isn’t easy when the secret society he belonged to is covering it up.

I gotta find out who killed him while watching my own back, because if I’m not careful I might be next—and this time, there’s no do over. Luckily for me, Mr. Single and Hot as F*ck is determined to help me keep my ass alive.

I’m a lucky, lucky girl.
Some days.

Reaper’s Blood by Kel Carpenter & Meg Anne is the first audiobook in the The Grimm Brotherhood narrated by Hollie Jackson. Snark, a murder-mystery and new found magic await you….

I enjoy Hollie Jackson, so I decided to grab Reaper’s Blood on audio. This is a snarky first in the Grimm Brotherhood urban fantasy series featuring Salem Kaine.

Salem has no filter, thinks Hostess cupcakes are a food group and finds trouble. On her way into her hometown she swerves to avoid an animal and dies. Only she comes back as a Reaper. Or at least that is what Alexander Graham Graves, III, her brother’s best friend tell her. He is also a reaper.

Turns out the town Salem grew up in is a haven for all types of supernatural. Salem is stunned, but wants to keep what she is a secret so she can investigate her brother’s murder. She enlists Graves and her best friend, Tamsin who turns out to be a succubus.

The story delivers a little romance, a murder-mystery and trouble when the town council gets involved. Over the top humor, snark and danger await you.

Salem made me laugh, but also annoyed me. She says and acts how she thinks which gets her into trouble. Her personality at times is over the top, but there is room for growth and her instincts were good.

The chemistry between Salem and Graves is sizzling and looks like their relationship will be an overall ARC, along with mysteries and Salem’s unique skill set. Is she a reaper or more?

Secondary characters, town history, sups and more added to the tale. I will be curious to see what the next audiobook brings.

The first in the #GrimmBrotherhood Reaper's Blood by Kel Carpenter & Meg Anne delivered over the top characters, humor and a murder-mystery in this supernatural town. #audiobook #HolliJackson Click To Tweet

About Kel Carpenter

Kel Carpenter

Kel Carpenter is a USA Today Bestselling Author and writer of all things fantasy. She loves reading, watching Netflix original shows, and subjecting her favorite co-author and editor to crazy, harebrained book ideas. Kel currently resides in Atlanta, GA with her boyfriend and three fur-children. When she is not writing or working on completing her senior year of college, she is spending time with her dog, Harley, or teasing her two cats with a laser pointer.

About Meg Anne

Meg Anne

Meg Anne has always had stories running on a loop in her head. They started off as daydreams about how the evil queen (aka Mom) had her slaving away doing chores; and more recently shifted into creating backgrounds about the people stuck beside her during rush hour. The stories have been there, they were just waiting for her to tell them. Like any true SoCal native, Meg enjoys staying inside curled up with a good book and her cat Henry… or maybe that’s just her; sunburns hurt! You can convince Meg to buy just about anything if it’s covered in glitter or rhinestones, or make her laugh by sharing your favorite bad joke. She also accepts bribes in the form of baked goods and Mexican food.
