Despite a powerful snowstorm that has shut down the city, Silver and the Mageri crew are preparing to spend a peaceful holiday at home, surrounded by family, food, and merriment. But the party comes to an abrupt end when Logan receives an unexpected call, one that forces him to make a life-changing decision that could affect his relationship with Silver forever. Can they find the courage to weather the storm? Lives are at risk in this compelling and heartwarming story about the remarkable journey of love.
The Gift by Dannika Dark is a novella set in the Mageri world that shares Christmas with the characters we have come to love. For fans, this is a chance to get updates on characters and the perfect tease as now I want more.
This story begins a few years after Shine ends. The author has a note in the audio and book that warns this book takes place AFTER the series and Risk a standalone set in the Mageri world. Had I not been reading this for the #HoHoHoRAT I would have stopped and read it first. *shakes fist at Goodreads*
It’s the holidays and everyone is living under the same roof. I loved seeing everyone settled and getting updates. Simon and Justus go shopping for a tree since this is the first Christmas everyone is home. Silver is cooking for all of them. Oyi! Laughter, a touch of sadness and answers to unresolved questions were all delectable.
We learn tidbits on Adam and others and I can only hope that Dark eventually tells their stories. She left it in such a way that my mind was able to create the endings I wanted. A snowstorm and an unexpected phone call have Logan and Silver leaving in the afternoon. Is it the miracle they hoped for or a trap? You will have to read to find out.
I absolutely loved the tie into the Seven series. It left me grinning. The Gift is meant for fans and should not be read as a standalone. I devoured it and will read Risk next.
The Gift by Dannika Dark was the perfect gift for fans of the Mageri series and Dark #holiday Share on X

I believe I have the first in this series on audio but havenโt gotten to it. I really want to try this series soon before it gets too big for me to catch up.

This series is complete as is Seven. Crossbreed is her newest series and the first two are out.

Good to know that you can’t read this as a standalone. Never read her work, but from your reviews it sounds good. ๐

I’m glad you enjoyed The Gift! I love Christmas-themed reads and films around this time of year, but those are usually limited to children’s books, so it’s cool to see that you’ve found this one. I hope you have a lovely holiday season!

Snowstorms are always a great setting in a novel…unfortunately, it’s a nightmare in real life. Happy Holidays!
