Let me count the ways why falling into forbidden love is not my wisest move…
1. She works with me every single day.
Did I mention she's gorgeous, sweet, kind and smart?
2. She works in my home.
Playing with my five-year-old daughter. Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means…
3. She's the nanny.
And that makes her completely off-limits…But it doesn’t stop me from wanting her. All of her.***
The other nannies in this city don't call him the Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention, the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around.
I can't risk my job for a chance at something more…can I? But I don’t know how to resist him much longer either…
I was excited to begin The Sexy One by Lauren Blakley as it still delivered a male POV narrated by Sebastian York but this time we also have a female POV narrated by Andi Arndt. Blakely’s romances are sexy, adorkable and always manage to make me smile as they tug at my heartstrings. The Sexy One delivered all of that, and I quickly devoured it. If you are looking for a serious, angsty romance, this is not for you. If you want to grin stupidly, laugh aloud and swoon a little than grab The Sexy One.
Simon, an amazingly sexy down-to-earth Daddy, hires Abby, a sweet, outgoing nanny. Both adore the child and secretly have the hots for each other. Their attraction to each other complicates things which lead to some hilarious internal conversations. They are friends, chat about cute things, but neither is willing to risk the good thing they have going. Like the best nanny ever and of course there is the whole employer, employee relationship thing. That tale that unfolds offered humor, heat, and sweetness overload.
The story is told in dual perspective allowing us to gain entry into both Simon and Abby’s thoughts. I enjoyed getting to know them and found both their inner struggles hilarious and genuine. The sexual build up was delicious, and Blakley teased us before finally allowing us the full heated swoon.
We do hear mention of Wyatt Hammer from Well Hung, albeit a small mention. I love that while all of these stories are standalone, they still have a connection. Secondary characters like the daughter, a bald eagle and others added depth, humor, cuteness and other occasional problem.
Sebastian York delivered the voice of Simon and continues to be a favorite listen for me. Andi Arndt was new to me, but perfectly captured Abby. The two worked well together giving the story an extra level of connection. I think sometimes hearing and experiencing some of these scenes through narration enhances my enjoyment. Sure I could have read the book in an hour and a half, but listening is just WAY to much fun!
If fun, smexy, and adorkable is what you want for your next audio listen grab The Sexy One and enjoy!

I don’t do much contemporary or straight romance, but you make me feel like I am missing something. 🙂

I don’t either, but this was such a fun romcom. You will laugh aloud.
Mary Kirkland
That sounds like a fun story.
kimbacaffeinate
It really is, perfect for a day like today.

One day I really will try this author Kim! I just haven’t been in the mood for contemporaries or even romance lately and I have no idea why, it is so strange, especially for the hopeless romantic in me.
kimbacaffeinate
I go through those phases myself. I was all thrillers over the summer.
Melliane
oh daddy and nanny, that’s nice. I like the idea and it’s always fun to have a father
kimbacaffeinate
It was fun Melliane.

Common enough story line, anything fun?
