DON'T LOOK BACK

Under siege. That's how Ryker Jones feels. The Lost Bastards Investigative Agency he opened up with his blood brothers has lost a client in a brutal way. The past he can't outrun is resurfacing, threatening to drag him down in the undertow. And the beautiful woman he's been trying to keep at arm's length is in danger...and he'll destroy anything and anyone to keep her safe.

Paralegal Zara Remington is in over her head. She's making risky moves at work by day and indulging in an affair with a darkly dangerous PI by night. There's a lot Ryker isn't telling her and the more she uncovers, the less she wants to know. But when all hell breaks loose, Ryker may be the only one to save her. If his past doesn't catch up to them first...

SUSPENSE hot yummy alpha Brothers

I’ve been enjoying Rebecca Zanetti’s Scorpius Syndrome series, so when I saw she had a brand new series and it contained the word ‘brothers’ I of course jumped Unbeknownst to me, Deadly Silence is a spin-off series for Sin Brothers.  But no worries I own them and it is not necessary to read them first. Action packed and full of humor, snark and heat readers will devour Deadly Silence.

Deadly Silence is the first novel in the Blood Brothers series an intense romantic suspense featuring three brothers with special talents. We are not talking paranormal woo-woo but genetically engineered talents.

Zanetti introduces readers to Ryker, Denver, & Heath. Three men who bonded as children due to their circumstances and made themselves blood brothers. Ryker Jones and his brothers find the lost and own the Lost Bastards Investigative Agency.

Ryker met Zara Remington a paralegal while working a case for her law firm. The two began a no-strings attached relationship. When business brings Ryker to town, they hook up for a night of passion. The relationship has slowly evolved into uncharted territory but it is like a huge elephant in the room neither mentions.  That is until Ryker finds a bruise on Zara’s check. Ryker is all alpha, and protects what he deems his. Poor Zara she wants uncomplicated as she juggles the complications in her life..but Ryker is having non of that. Bwahaha.

As Ryker tries to decide what kind of trouble Zara is in, he and his brothers get an unusually case that has ties to their own past. The tale that unfolds brings us twists, climactic action scenes and plenty of surprises that will keep you flipping the pages. The Lost Bastards client is someone ya’ll are going to love. I wanted to hug them and kiss them even as their back-story made me mad at the storyline villains. This character stole every scene and I loved it.

Zanetti managed to give the story balance despite the multiple threads. Some threads wrapped up and others were left unanswered as part of the overall series ARC. She did so while introducing us to these brothers and deliver a hot, smexy romance filled with heat and heart. The romance had a little push and pull as these two dealt with Ryker’s need to protect and Zara’s fears of commitment but their feelings were genuine. I liked the back and forth banter between them. Zara was a surprisingly kick-ass.

If you have read the Sin Brothers you are familiar with what makes these brothers different, but Zanetti gave them their own unique story, and these boys are very special. Despite not having read the previous series, I was not at all lost. Drooling to begin Sin Brothers, yes but lost nope.  Characters from the series Sin Brothers appear and I think fans will enjoy the bit of crossover. It isn’t necessary to have read the books but trust me you’ll want to.

Deadly Silence was an engaging action packed romantic suspense.  I look forward to more of the Blood Brothers. Lethal Lies releases in May of 2017, which gives me time to read the Sin Brothers.

I really liked this book! It motivated me to buy the Sin Brothers series. I can’t wait for the sequel for this book. I loved the brothers’ relationship so I’m excited to read about them more.

Oh, I like this premise! Between the brothers and Zoe, AND this character that steals everything, this has all sorts of goodness in it!

Well the cover certainly doesn’t match up with the book blurb, at least in my opinion BUT the premise for the book still sounds fantastic! and can i just say i would KILL for a dress like the girl is wearing on the cover? so cute!
I like the idea of the three brothers, i think it would make things really interesting! Great review Kimba!

I love reading your reviews! This book sounds amazing! Yet another to put on my ever-growing TBR pile I think, Thanks 🙂

  5. Lorna

I’ve read and enjoyed her paranormal series and although I have at least one from another series by her-not sure which one-I haven’t jumped into her romantic suspense ones. After reading your review I need to add it to me list. Thank you!

It was interesting to get your take on it since this was your starting point. I went into it after having read the Sins Brothers (book two is my fav- Matty’s mine, just saying), but didn’t realize this was a spin-off and figured it out gradually and enjoying that there are more Brothers. 🙂

Interesting that this is a spin off from that series. Glad you were able to jump right into it and that you liked it.

I can’t resist a series about brothers – mystery, paranormal, romance, whatever. If there are brothers it is on my TBR. Not sure what that’s about! Even without the brothers this sounds pretty great! I’ll definitely have to give it a try!

“The Lost Bastards Investigative Agency” — eye-catchy name for a business. I would imagine it really stands out in the business directory. Thanks for the post!

I read Melanie’s review for this the other day, and now yours. I am convinced I need to try this author.

Hahaha. We flip-flopped our review dates on the two books. LOL. I completely agree with you about this book. It was so much fun. As I listened, I thought she did a good job giving all the details to new readers, but not bogging it down for those of us who have read Sin Brothers. We also learned new things about the people raising the brothers that we didn’t know before. I’m already chomping at the bit for the next book. 🙂

That is too funny. I am so glad you enjoyed this too. Yes, it worked not having read the other series but it only made me want to read them now 🙂

I’ve never read anything by Rebecca Zanetti. I’m not a huge romantic suspense person, but every once in awhile I get a craving. I’ve recently read some Katie Reus Red Stone Security books. have you read any of those?

LOL I love that you already own her Sin Brother series but haven’t read it yet. I wouldn’t know a thing about that. Nope. 😀 I’m glad you enjoyed your introduction to the Blood Brothers. It sounds like a great story with all the action and the romance. I think I need to get acquainted with both the Sin Brothers and the Blood Brothers soon. 😉

I’ve seen this reviewed out there Kim, but I don’t think I knew it was a spin off I am glad to know you don’t have to read the original series to enjoy this one and I’ve really wanted to read her for a while and it sounds like this romantic suspense mixed with a bit of six million dollar man albeit genetics instead of replacement parts is just for me. Thanks!

This sounds like a great series, Kim! How do you find these new releases so fast? I will add to my GR TBR. Hope you’re doing well!
