All the Missing Pieces by Catherine Cowles, narrated by Andi Arndt & Sebastian York, was just the romantic suspense listen I needed. A true crime podcaster and an overprotective, broody, small-town Sheriff butt-heads when she comes to town hoping to catch a killer.

Sometimes the last thing you expect is exactly what you need, the final missing piece. And sometimes it comes in the form of a towering, broody sheriff, determined to get in your way at every step.

Ridley Sawyer knows what it’s like to miss someone, to feel like a piece of her vanished—because it happened to her the night her twin sister disappeared.

Now, Ridley channels that loss into hope, traveling the country covering cold cases for her true crime podcast. She might not have found justice for her sister but that doesn’t stop her from finding it for others.

Until Sheriff Colter Brooks gets in her way.

Colt knows what it’s like to have reporters descend on his town in the wake of a tragedy, and he’s not about to let a fiery podcaster stir up trouble. It doesn’t matter that her haunting blue eyes tell him there’s more to Ridley’s story or that he can’t stop imagining what it would be like to touch her.

But when Ridley’s cold case turns hot and she’s thrust into the crosshairs, Colt has no choice but to step in. Suddenly, Ridley’s living at his house, drinking his whiskey, and stealing his dog’s affections. But she’s also proving that she’s so much more than his first impression.

And as they get closer to the truth, the game they’ve been playing might just turn deadly…

MURDERMYSTERY ROMANCE Small-town SEXY

I was in the mood for a romantic suspense and came across All the Missing Pieces, narrated by two narrators I enjoy and happily grabbed my earbuds to settle into the story.

Ridley Sawyer arrives in the small-town of Shady Cove in her traveling Volkswagen van, ready to revisit an abduction case where the victim got away. Ridley started a true crime podcast, Sounds Like Serial, and has successfully helped close cases. For Ridley, this one is personal. She thinks there is a connection to others, including her own twin sister. The only obstacle to getting her story and possibly clues is the big, broody and protective Sheriff Colter Brooks, who just happens to be the victim’s brother.

I loved their first meet. This is grumpy meets sunshine romance with plenty of back-and-forth from head-butting to wicked banter. It’s impossible to ignore the intense chemistry between them. They certainly try though! As Ridley investigated, and Colter questioned his own investigation, things between them heat-up. I loved how genuine both characters felt from their actions, to the attraction and sizzling romance. It had me swooning even as the case and danger increased.

Cowles gave us a well-developed, suspenseful serial killer mystery with plenty of suspects, building danger as they got closer to the truth and a twisted conclusion. I loved how balanced the two threads were and how tightly woven they became.

Secondary characters like Colter’s best friend and his sister, not to mention an ornery cat and loveable dog, only added to the story. Weave in the narration provided by Andi Arndt & Sebastian York and you’ve got a winner. They both enhanced the characters and suspense. The heated scenes were well done in their capable hands.

I am excited that this is just the first in the Shady Cove series and cannot wait for the next audiobook. You can find this one in kindleunlimited and Libro.fm has it on sale for the next 8 days for $3.99.
