As I continued my binge of the Iron Druid Chronicles, I wasn’t sure if I would grab all the novellas on audio or in fact even read them, but Besieged is a large collection and after Staked I wasn’t quite ready to leave this world or wait for the next book in April so I decided to download this collection. Brilliant, funny, sad, and interesting I delighted in these tales shared around a campfire.
Blood Red Kiss by Kresley Cole, Larissa Ione, and Gena Showalter is an anthology containing three tales by these New York Times best sellers. The Warlord Wants Forever the first in Cole’s Immortal After Dark series, Forsaken by Night a MoonBound Clan novella from Ione and Dark Swan a novella from the Otherworld Assassins series by Showalter. I had previously read books from Ione and Showalter, but and you should sit down for this, I had never read anything by Cole.
I love anthologies particularly ones surrounding a holiday theme. The Cottage on Pumpkin and Vine by Kate Angell, Jennifer Dawson and Sharla Lovelace takes place in Moonbright, Maine at a picturesque B&B. Three romances surrounded by apple bobbing, crisp autumn air and a little magic make it a must read.
I enjoy the urban fantasy series the Sentinels of New Orléans by Suzanne Johnson and was excited by the prospect of short, standalone tales from this world. Pirateship Down is a great introduction to this urban fantasy and the perfect fix for fans anxiously awaiting the release of Pirate’s Alley.
The Last Chance Christmas Ball is an anthology featuring eight stories told by some of our favorite Regency Romance authors. Jo Beverley begins with a prologue as The Dowager Countess of Holbourne, Lady Holly and her companion are writing out invitations for her annual Christmas Ball. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the event. Some folks refer to this as the Last Chance Christmas Ball as they hope to find true love or rekindle old flames. All of the stories take place at or around Lady Holly’s Ball. At well over 400 pages, this delightful collection has a romance for everyone.
