When Clio conned her way into the Underworld, her job was to steal magic that could protect her homeland. Instead, she escaped with the rebellious son of a notorious spell weaver family.
And in the process, she exposed his most calamitous spell.
Now she and Lyre are in a race to recover his spell before his family catches up to them. Their only hope is to escape to the Overworld, and as an Underworlder on enemy ground, Lyre will have no choice but to trust Clio with his survival. But can she trust him when his seduction magic has the power to erase her will?
Especially when she's already falling for him?
Incubi are incapable of love, as they both know. But evading Lyre's family and making it through the treacherous wilds of the Overworld will push them to the brink—and they'll fight with everything they have to make it out together.
Celebrating the tenth Anniversary of the bestselling Steel & Stone series, the second edition of The Shadow Weave features a revised story.
This is the second book in the Spell Weaver series and while Annette Marie does a wonderful job of bringing the listener up to speed, I highly recommend listening to the series in order since the story and relationships build off the first book.
I am having fun listening to this series. The Shadow Weave picks up right where The Night Realm ended. Cleo and Lyre have escaped the Underworld. Lyre’s dad has issued a death warrant for them and they are hiding on Earth while they look to find a guide to the Overworld and Cleo’s home. They must retrieve his doomsday spell before it is used.
The tale that unfolds was not only action-packed with battles and betrayal, it also fleshed out Cleo and Lyre’s relationship. The two must learn to trust each other, and Cleo must show Lyre what she is capable of. Can she trust him when his magic includes his seduction magic?
Dangerous situations, near-death experiences and secondary characters added to this tightly woven tale. I was once again impressed by Marie’s storytelling.
Melissa Morgan and Tim Paige nailed the dual points of view and brought these characters and story to life. The two work well together and only enhanced my enjoyment of the story.
The tale ends on a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to listen to The Blood Curse. Perfect for fans of urban fantasy, magic and romantasy!

I am currently listening to this one and have about 2 more hours to go. I am really enjoying it so far and like you said it does a good job of fleshing out Clio and Lyre’s romance in this book. And the story and action is exciting. I like the Overworld setting and getting to see more of that world. I’ve read quite a few of this author’s books and am happy to now get the chance to finally listen to these earlier series set in this world.
