This week was a little crazy. The kids were home Tuesday, so we ended up taking them to a new park in town. They had a blast, and we treated them to a late lunch. Wednesday, Clayton got sick and ended up home from school. On Thursday, I took him to the doctor, and he tested positive for strep, which meant he was home Friday too. Naturally, I got nothing done. This week Clayton turns six. He is counting down the days. Our weather was everywhere, from shorts to hats and scarves this week before settling in with bitter cold. We woke up to snow flurries on Saturday. I might need to put my flip-flops away. Stay Caffeinated.

I know it’s been awhile since you posted this. Strep is no fun. I’m hoping he is fine by now’
Carla
I was on the East Coast of Canada and they also got snow on Sunday. Sounds like a busy week.
Mary Kirkland
Oh no, poor kid. My grandson was sick but it was just a cold last week.
Carole @ Carole's Random Life
It is definitely time to put away shorts and flip-flops here! It is just plain cold in my book. It sounds like you had quite the week with sick kiddos and everything. Have a great week!
S. J. Pajonas
It’s always a sad day when you put the flip-flops away. Happy birthday to Clayton!
Katherine
Oh poor Clayton! Strep is my least favorite of all the bugs that go around because I hate having a sore throat so much. I hope he’s feeling better. Have a great week!
vidya
Hope he feels better.. strep is certainly not pleasant…
And it is getting bitter cold for us too (at least by bay area standards)..
MarthaE
Sorry to hear Clayton got sick. I hope he is better and that all of your family stays healthy. A friend next to my son’s home posted they had 5 1/2 inches of snow. That surprised me.
Stay warm and enjoy your reading!
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
The park day sounds like fun! I’m sorry Clayton has been sick. I hope the antibiotics have kicked in and he’s feeling better by now.
Our weather has been crazy, too. It was 73 on Friday, 71 on Saturday, and today it barely hit 50. Looks like we’ll be solidly in the 40s for highs all week, except Wednesday when it might get up to 55. Fall is here to stay, I think, and winter won’t be far behind.
Anne - Books of My Heart
oh no don’t put away the flip-flops. I wear them in the house year-round or slippers. I try not to wear them out of the house but in the summer the flip-flops go out sometimes. Happy birthday to Clayton. I hope he feels much better.
Kimberly
Lol, I have inside flip-flops but it’s cold enough I need my indoor slippers. Lows will be in the negative double digits this week.
Bookworm
Happy Birthday to Clayton, I hope he’s feeling better! The weather here has been all over the place also. I’m so not mentally ready for the winter lol.
Kimberly
Me either…lol
Sophia Rose
Clayton was the star this week of both high and low. 🙂 We had warm days early and then a couple inches of snow yesterday. It stuck around a bit which did surprise me. Hopefully you can get a more steady week.
Have a good one, Kimberly!
Kimberly
Wow…that is surprising. Have a great week.
Jinjer
I was so happy to wake up to snow on Saturday!
Sorry little Clayton is sick. Hope he’s better for his birthday!
Kimberly
Glad you enjoyed it!
Jamie @ The Fantasy Princess
I keep waiting and hoping for snow but nothing yet! Hope you have a great week!
Kimberly
They are calling for a snowy winter. We shalll see.
Wendy
I hope the kids feel much better soon. Happy early Birthday to Clayton.
Kimberly
Thanks. My daughter and Hazel have Covid. Both are ok, fevers, running nose and aches. Clayton is doing much better and will go to school tomorrow.
Lover of Romance
Yeah Winter is coming haha I am not sure I am ready for it but here we go. I have never heard of Stephen Blackmore, I am intrigued though. I hope you enjoy those.
Kimberly
Thanks, these came out years ago and are finally coming to audio.
Vi @Inkvotary
Oh, that sounds like winter is coming. Hope Clayton is feeling better so that he can enjoy his birthday.
Kimberly
Yep, he is on the mend and will be going to school tomorrow.
Meezan
So sorry Clayton was sick. I hope he is all better for his birthday. We’ve had warmish weather the past few days, but it’s blustery and cold today. That’s the way I like it at this time of year, though. I hope you have a wonderful week! 🙂
Kimberly
Yep, the temps have turned colder. It will be a hat and scarf week.
Rachel @Waves of Fiction
It’s hard to get things done with the kids! The park is great for wearing them out, lol. We’ve had snow, rain and now it’s sunshine, but it’s been cold. Highs in the 40s. Warming up to the 50s this week. Happy Sunday, Kimberly! 🙂
Kimberly
I would prefer 50. We won’t get much about freezing all week with lows in the double negative digits.
LORI CASWELL
I am so sorry Clayton is sick. I hope he feels better quick. You are right the weather has been crazy. I vore for more 70-degree days and no more snow until December 🙂
Hope you have a great week.
Kimberly
Clayton feels good and yes, December snow is welcome.
Laurie @ Bark's Books
The weather has been so strange. 70+ degrees in November for a few days and then it dips down 40 degrees! I switch back and forth between sandals and boots. It’s been wild. Sorry about the strep – I hope he’s feeling better soon.
Kimberly
Yes and now we are all sick. Tis the season. The forecast looks like we will be settling in to cold weather.
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
My school district was off Tuesday as well for voting. It was a nice middle of the week break for me! lol Hope you have a good week and sounds like a fun birthday celebration for Clayton too!
Kimberly
Yes. We have never closed for it, but with polling in gym I thought it was a great idea.
BonnieReadsAndWrites
I don’t mind just snow flurries. They are pretty and don’t accumulate. Enjoy the week and have some hot chocolate!
Kimberly
Lol. I love snow, just not the cold temperatures.
Jodie
I’m sorry to hear about Clayton being so sick – poor little guy. I hope he feels better soon and that you can get back to your usual schedule. Have a wonderful week ahead Kimberly.
Kimberly
He is feeling like himself again and driving his momma crazy.
Tanya @ Girl Plus Books
Snow flurries! Oh my goodness, I would love to see that. I’ve seen snow so few times in my life that’s it’s always a novelty.
Kimberly
It is lovely but I prefer when its significant and shuts every down. Lol
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
It’s hot and steamy here.
I hope Clayton is well good his birthday celebrations
Wishing you a great reading week
Kimberly
So jelly!
A Voracious Reader
Busy weeks suck. lol I hope Clayton feels better by the time his birthday rolls around. We were super humid this week and now we’re chilly with below freezing temps forecasted for every night this week. Stupid weather. I hope you have a great week, Kim!
Kimberly
Stupid weather indeed. I now have a headcold. Clayton on the other hand feels much better.
Emma @ Words And Peace
Also crazy weather near Chicago, going from 75 to 40. I don’t like the cold, but it feels less crazy to have the normal November temps.
Just a few symbolic flurries though yesterday, whereas family south Illinois got 3 inches!
Kimberly
True. November should feel like November and not April. Have a great week.
Amy @ A Novel Start
What a hectic week you’ve had! I hope Clayton gets well soon so he can enjoy his birthday <3 Hopefully next week will be less eventful (except for the birthday party of course!) he he x
Kimberly
Thank you. Clayton is getting excited. Ah, to be six again.
Sophie
I think putting away the flip flops is a safe bet indeed Kimberly! I hope Clayton feels better this week!
Kimberly
Haha… true. But I hate it. Lol
Jenni Elyse
I’m sorry to hear that your son has strep. I hope he feels better soon. We had snow this week too. Fortunately, it melted later in the day. I’ve also put my sandals away for now. 🙁 I hope you have a great week!
Kimberly
Clayton is my grandson. I watch all of my grandchildren during the week while their parents are at work. He is doing much better. Thank you.
Emily @Budget Tales Book Blog
That weather sounds crazy! Still warm here with the occasional downpour! Birthdays are exciting. I hope you all have a great week next week!
Kimberly
Thanks Emily!
Tessa
That sounds like quite a week. I hope Clayton is feeling better and that he enjoys his birthday. To be a kid again, right? Have a great week!
Kimberly
6 is a fun age. Thanks Tessa.

Me too. Thanks Laurel
Maureen @ Maureen’s Books
Sounds like a busy week for sure. I hope Clayton feels better soon.
And 6 already? Where did the time go?!
Have a great week and happy reading.
Kimberly
Right. They grow up too quickly.
Taylor @ Taylor Fenner’s Bookish World
I hope Clayton is feeling better! Some nasty virus is going around my workplace and a ton of people are out sick so I hope I don’t get it.
Kimberly
I have a terrible head cold myself, and poor Hazel had a fever of 102 today. Tis the season.
Yvonne @ Socrates Book Reviews
Sorry to hear Clayton isn’t feeling well and that the cold weather has hit you. I hope he feels better and it won’t be too cold. Have a great week!
Kimberly
While he’ll be on antibiotics for a bit, he is feeling much better. Thank you.
Greg
We had snow here today too, just a little dusting but it’s like 30 degrees now. COLD. No flip flops here lol.
Kimberly
Same. The weather is bitter. I will soon be hibernating. The cold goes tight through to my joints.
