Most Anticipated Releases for 2016

I thought I would share a list of some of my most anticipated releases for 2016. These are all must haves. Books that have me giddy with anticipation and ones that I know I will devour on release day.

Red Rising thrilled readers and announced the presence of a talented new author. Golden Son totally changed the game and took the story of Darrow to the next level. Now comes the exhilarating conclusion to the Red Rising Trilogy: Morning Star. Born a lowly Red in the mines of Mars, Darrow lost his beloved wife to the treacherous Gold overlords. Vowing to fight for the future that his wife believed in, Darrow joins a secret revolutionary group and is remade into a Gold so that he can infiltrate the ruling class and bring them down from the inside. Now, after years of hiding amongst the Golds, Darrow is finally ready to declare open revolution and throw off the chains of oppression. Nothing in Darrow’s world has been easily won, and this final fight will be the most harrowing of all

This trilogy has literally rocked my world. Epic world-building, an engaging plot and a hero unlike any other the Red Rising trilogy is one I recommend on a daily basis. While categorized as young adult, Brown’s brilliant novel is one for all ages.

I have been waiting and waiting since 2012 for the final book to this epic trilogy. The Passage is beautiful, horrifying, monstrous in size and yet never long enough!

This is the series that makes me laugh and lose whole days. After the events  of book nine I cannot wait to get my hands on The Curse of the Tenth Grave.

I am so excited about this full-length novel it is ridiculous. Just mentioning it makes my stomach flip-flop in anticipation. I love the Newsflesh world and plan to devour it.

I love this series set in low-country, with its rich details, suspenseful plot and tough as nail protagonist. There hasn’t been a release since 2012 and I am giddy with anticipation.

Call me crazy but I love the brilliant world and characters of the Others series. This is a series where I go a little fangirl and own all of the books on audio, hardcover and eBook.  So yep, I need this baby now.

These sound awesome. I haven’t heard of any of them but there are a few I’m adding right away to my Goodreads list.

  2. Berls

All your must reads are part of series on my must start /catch up on list! Just another reason to bump them up, since you’re eagerly awaiting the next book!

  3. MarthaE

I like several of your choices and I may look for some of those series. One that I will add is FIre Touched: Mercy Thompson book 9 by Patricia Briggs coming out in March.

  4. kara-karina

I would not call you crazy, missus! 🙂 I anticipate half of these books just as much 🙂 Marked in Flesh was the best i the series, it was soo good! 🙂

  5. Sara

The only one I’m really, really looking forward to, is the latest Kate Daniels installment. Everything else is a distant second 🙂

  6. Lorna

I just downloaded the Bishop book a couple of days ago, but first I have to finish listening to Vision in Silver. These books you mention sound wonderful, can’t wait to read your thoughts 🙂

  7. Cyn

Ah, I’ve gotten behind on the The Others series, definitely need to get back to that asap! Also, I need to check of Mira Grant!
    Great list, Kim!

  8. Kay

Most of the books on your list are on my TBR pile of “series I really do want to read at some point in my life but have yet to do so” 😀 I really hope all of these books end up being everything you want and more.

  9. Melissa's Eclectic Bookshelf

I so need to check out the Red Rising Series!! And you know that City of Mirrors is top on my list this year. I may need to plan a reread though – and that’s saying a lot as I’ve never reread a book before!

  10. Ksenia

I plan to finally start The Others series this year, I see so much love for it among my bookish friends. I hope you would get chance to read all books on your list, Kim!

  11. Heidi

Yep, I am excited about all those as well. I was thrilled when I got my copies of The Visitor and Marked in Flesh this past week!

  12. Jessica

OOh nice! Definitely cannot wait for 10th Grave…even though I still need to read 7th Grave 🙁 (I am shameful)

Also cannot wait for Marked in Flesh…though, again, still gotta read the second one! Ever behind, but I’m trying to devote the early part of this year to getting caught up with some series along with the occasional review book as they come in!

  13. Melissa (Books and Things)

Yes to all of these. I might have to start Red Rising and the Others series to catch up to you. 🙂 Oh and 10th grave! I haven’t even read 9th yet and I’m already clamoring for it as well. 🙂

  14. Katherine

This is a great list and while they’re not really genres that I read a lot of so many of these are on my TBR. I really want to try Anne Bishop, Pierce Brown and Darynda Jones.

  15. Tracy Terry

Definitely an author I’ll have to seek out as I know of lots of bloggers eagerly awaiting the Justin Cronin book.. Happy reading.

  16. Lola

Great list! I own the first book in Anne Bishop her Others series, but I haven’t read it yet, I really should try and make tiem for that this year. The charley Davidson series sounds good too, just read a great review yesterday of one of the books in that series.

My most anticipated new releases in 2016 are SJ pajonas her new cozy mystery series, Saven book 2 and 3 by Siobhan Davis, Kelley Armstrong her new releases (especially betrayal and City of the Lost), the next Cedar Ridge book by Jill Shalvis, the enxt Amanda Lester book by Paula Berinstein, Grilled for Murder by Maddie Day and A Disguise to Die for by Dianne Vallerie.

  17. sherry fundin

Darynda’s book looks fantastic, but so do the others. I have had my eye on her books for a while, but have yet to read one. If you are eager to get it, that sounds like a recommendation to me. 🙂 I hope you enjoy them all.

  18. Kristin

Oh man. I am falling behind on Darynda’s series. I only read up to the 3rd book and then I sort of fell behind on the releases. I own all but the latest release. I just need to find time to sit down and read them.

  19. kindlemom1

If you don’t already know, the last too, the Stevens and Bishop books are on Netgalley, go grab them Kim! I can’t wait for pretty much all of these as well. Such fun series and for some the last ones so it will be bittersweet for sure.

  20. Aurian

I absolutely agree on the Anne Bishop book. I am behind with Darynda Jones, but slowly catching up.

  21. Jonetta (Ejaygirl)

While I’m excited about Morning Star, I’m also anxious about it, too. Can’t wait, though, for The Visitor and am holding out for the audio version.

  22. Stormi

Heard of all those authors, but one. Want to read all of them that I know on there too, but haven’t even started the series….ugh. So many books!!! 🙂

  23. Lexxie

I’m so excited about Morning Star! I’m not sure how I’ll be able to wait until release day before I get my hands on it, Kim!

  24. Angela

I’m waiting for The Visitor as well! There are so many amazing books coming out this year, but I cannot wait for Gortner’s The Vatican Princess to come out.

  25. Jenny

I’m starting Written in Red soon Kim, I can’t wait! I should be all caught up by March and then I’ll be ready for this book. YAY!!!!! Then I just need to tackle the Pierce Brown series:)

  26. Bookworm Brandee

I haven’t started a single one of these series, Kimberly. But they’re on my tbr…my problem is deciding which to start first. 😉 I’ll get there and hopefully soon.

  27. Nick

I love that cover for City of Mirrors!
I’ll be reading the Pierce Brown book once the whole series is out and I can’t wait. 😀
Hopefully, all of these will blow your mind, Kim!

  28. Samantha

The City of Mirrors sounds really awesome. I always hear great things about Justin Cronin, but just haven’t gotten around to reading anything by him yet. Maybe I’ll start with this one when it comes out.

  29. Lekeisha

I’ve been waiting on The City of Mirrors forever, it seems. I really need to read Golden Son before Morning Star releases. Great picks!

  30. Deborah

I have to admit I’ve not heard of any of these books Kimberly though of course fantasy / dystopian fiction etc isn’t really my thing. 🙂

I hope they all live up to the hype though!
