The Witches of Echo Park is the first in an urban fantasy series by Amber Benson. The tale unfolds in Los Angeles and introduces us to a unique cast of female witches and a plot to eliminate them all. Spells, ghosts, threats and a unique coven drew me in. While at times it felt like young adult, I am very curious to see how it unfolds.
One Mad Night shares the romance of Chelsea Crawford and Ian Rafferty. A short and sweet winter romance served best with a cup of hot cocoa, a warm throw and a comfy chair by the fire.
I love a good procedural crime novel with fleshed out characters and diabolical killers and Tess Gerritsen delivers with her Rizzoli & Isles series featuring Boston Detective Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles the Chief Medical Examiner. Die Again the eleventh book in the series drew me in and had me guessing from the first page. It is so good to have Tess back!
Midway is a novella in the Harvesting series by Melanie Karsak and the perfect little hold me over till the release of book two, The Shadow Aspect, coming in 2015. While characters are familiar to those who have read The Harvesting, book one it is something anyone can enjoy.
It’s that time of year again, where I pull my hair out trying to select my top ten adult reads. As many of you know I read adult fiction in many genres, making my task incredibly difficult. Below is the list, I complied and you will notice all are not five cup of coffee reviews, but each book was memorable. 2014 was quite the year with favorite series ending and new to me author.
