Like many Hollows fans I pre-ordered A Perfect Blood and was counting down the days till its release. I was anxious to get my hands on it and stayed up Monday night just to download it promptly at 12:01. I just wanted to read a few pages; such was my anticipation. It took me three sessions to complete this novel, as the gods and life worked against me. Now that I’ve finished, I am glad because I had a chance to savor it. Now I find myself, stuck right back where I was on Monday…waiting for the next Hollows release..sheesh. A Perfect Blood, had a blended feel of earlier novels and newer ones as Rachel dealt with being a demon and spent much of the novel with limited powers. As always I loved my trip back to the Hollows.
Delirium Lauren Oliver
Delirium by Lauren Oliver is a young adult dystopian where people live in fear of, and receive the cure to protect them from Amor Deliria Nervosa which roughly translates to mean “love”. Oliver delivers a beautifully written tale of love, fear, and the consequences of a world without love.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a captivating dystopian novel that literally blew me away. It takes place in the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Here Collins introduces us to wonderful characters and a governing body that does unspeakable things to its districts children. Each year two children (one boy and one girl) between the ages of twelve and eighteen are chosen from each district to be participants in the Hunger Games; a nationally televised fight to the death. Collins tale offers; action, loyalty, romance and a brilliant tale of humanity, death, hope and human’s ability to endure.
Divergent by Veronica Roth
In Veronica Roth’s debut novel, Divergent, she offers us a unique dystopia with likeable characters. The world-building for this society was fascinating and the story line kept me turning the pages. This novel offer; good verse evil, political tension, romance and a fractured society. I purchased this novel when it was first released, for my Nook, and for whatever reason it found it’s way into my TBR pile. I am still kicking myself, for that bone-headed move.
Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs
Bone Crossed the fourth installment in the Mercy Thompson series was my favorite thus far. In this action packed novel, Mercy manages to get herself in some predicaments. I consumed this in a few hours and loved every minute of it.
