This time, leaving Earth was not Nyx’s choice...
After her latest trip off-planet, Nyx Fortuna has every intention of keeping both feet firmly on Earth Between. Between trying to figure out why the Kumir have been hunting her friend Seth, searching for a way to destroy the Harvester of Worlds, and getting frustrated by the glacially slow return of her memories, she doesn’t have any time for planet-hopping.
Unfortunately, the universe has other plans. When she’s abducted from Earth Between, Nyx finds herself in the remote reaches of the universe, on planets unconnected to the Station’s ley lines. Her only hope lies in mastering the portal magic she’s only just discovered she has. But even if she can manage its use, does she have enough magic—and determination—to find her way back home?
I’ve been enjoying the world created by Manus in the Nyx Fortuna series. It’s a blend of urban fantasy and science fiction with travel between planets. Nyx, our heroine, is a Guardian of a Waystation on Earth Between. She protects the ley lines between planet pubs, checks passports and enforces the rules. Her station is magical. It’s bigger on the inside. The world-building is fantastic and with each book we learn more.
Listening to this series in the order of its release is necessary to follow the overall series arc.. Friendships are forged, and there is an arc regarding the Harvester of Worlds that Nyx wears around her neck.
After the events of the Guardian of Shadows, Nyx is happy to be back at the station. She is training with a new weapon, prodding her memories and enjoying events on Earth Between, but all of that changes when she is abducted. Nyx ends up in parts of the universe not connected to the station’s ley lines. She experiments with her own untested portal magic. Meanwhile, Seth and her friends at the station are trying desperately to reach her.
It was an excellent edition to the series. I enjoyed watching Nyx test her skills and seeing development with the romantic aspects of the storyline. Danger, new worlds and plenty of action await you!
Desireé Ketchum has become the voice of Nyx and the others. From her pacing to tone, she enhances this well-written tale. The audio production was well done. I highly recommend listening to this series.

The series gets better with each book. The first was so exceptionally pleasant. Character advancement and connections extended and developed. I love this series and consistently start at the first when another one emerges. It is quite a while to Fall 23, however surmise beneficial things merit hanging tight for.
Kimberly
I agree Robisarker. I love the character development.
