Hollow Cove was never a dangerous city. Weird and eccentric, maybe. But not dangerous. Until now.
A new magic threatens our paranormal community and competes for dominance. Something awakens in the night, and it’s a real stinker. Not kidding.
I’m a Merlin now, and my plan is simple: get in, protect my family and friends, and defeat this new evil. But it’s never that simple. One small misstep could lead to disaster.
Soon, I’m neck-high in a giant, stinking mess of crap, and it’s steadily rising. But the last thing I expected was for the man I was falling for could threaten everything…
The Witches of Hollow Cove is a paranormal fantasy with a cozy mystery vibe surrounding the life of Tessa Davenport, a merlin. In this fourth installment, her mother comes to visit and we learn more about Tessa’s father, but not before we bend leylines and deal with the undead.
I love the house, the Aunts and the town of Hollow Cove. Tessa can be impulsive, but her intentions are always good. Her Aunts crack me up. I love the secondary characters from her friends to the local sheriff.
The romance served on the side has been a slow-build. Just when we get to a good point and see progress there, someone returns to town and causes trouble. It made for some interesting moments, but for me the strength of this series lies in the cases or mysteries that Tessa, her friends and aunts solve each book.
If you like snark, mystery, small-town stories and paranormal elements, you’ll be right at home. For fans of cozy mysteries, I think you’ll enjoy the banter, humor and charming characters. The Davenport house is a character in and of itself, from the creepy basement to its magical abilities.
Devon Sorvari narrates and has become the voice of Tessa and the others. She enhances the overall story and brings these characters and the stories to life. Listening is a pleasure.
The undead issue wraps up, and we are left with just enough of a hook to have me eager for the next audiobook. Fans of Darynda Jone’s Betwixt & Between series will enjoy this series.

This one seems to have a pretty interesting genre bend. Combining a mystery with the snarky characters appeals to everything I want in a fun read or listen!
