I follow narrator Luke Daniels, and he has introduced me to some fantastic authors, stories and series. Such was the case when he pitched his latest audiobook, That’s Not Right by Scott Meyer. Do you love talk radio and exploring the unexplained? Then you’ll want to grab your earbuds and listen to this humorous, strange, and addictive fiction.

Amber is a young videographer who has landed her dream job. She is to produce a web series based on a late-night talk radio show dealing with the unexplained. She is a huge fan of the show, and its host, Jack Owens, who she hopes to help reveal the world’s most cryptic secrets.
The first secret she reveals is Jack’s. He doesn’t believe any of this crap. To him, the show is just a cushy job that allows him to support himself and his wife without having to try very hard. He doesn’t want to leave his house, go anywhere near the things he’s reported on or the people who come on his show, who he thinks, or at least hopes, are liars.
But go near them, he will! And so will you! Join Jack and Amber as they encounter: monstrous creatures, scientific anomalies, shadowy conspiracies, secretive agencies, medical abnormalities, ancient curses, life after death and/or the key to immortality (Yes! Both of those things)! All that, and some really creepy kids! Listen to this book, and you’ll agree, “That’s Not Right."
Jack Owens is the host of a late-night radio show that explores the unexplained. It is popular and delves into strange phenomenons brought to you by the listeners from cursed paintings to tiny volcanos. Jack explores everything from the comfort of his home. Amber, a young videographer, is a huge fan and delighted to have the opportunity to take Jack’s show on the road. Jack isn’t pleased, but must fulfill the terms of his contract. The tale that unfolds was hilarious, creepy, and a closeup look at the unexplained. Did I mention Jack is a skeptic?
The tale was set up as short stories featuring different encounters with the unexplained. We will come across monstrous creatures, scientific anomalies, shadowy conspiracies, secretive agencies, medical abnormalities, ancient curses, life after death and/or the key to immortality and some of the creepiest kids you’ll ever meet. It was brilliant and addictive. I think my favorites were the head-band kids and the mini-volcano. But the lizard man was good too… oh heck, I loved all the stories.
We get to know Jack, who never ceased to make me laugh from his attire to his reactions. Amber is trying to prove herself and the two become friends. We have a little conflict which keeps things interesting. I am really hoping Meyer revisits these characters, as I am sure there are plenty of unexplained stories/theories out there!
Luke Daniels delivered a stellar narration from voices to his tones capturing the mood of the book perfectly. The story lends itself to the audio format, and I highly recommend listening.

I love Luke Daniels as a narrator but haven’t really taken the time to follow him. This looks like an interesting read and I will listen to just about anything he narrates.

Short stories of the bizarre would be cool and Luke Daniels’ narrating a bonus. 🙂
