“Sending you an SOS.” When psychic Trudy Tucker hears this plaintive cry in her mind and then connects psychically with a little girl’s kidnapper, she is drawn to a small town in Missouri where everyone is suspect – including herself and her lover, celebrated psychic detective Levi Wolfe. As she and Levi work together to sort through whom and what to trust, an innocent life hangs in the balance.

Through His Heart is the third novel in the Mind’s Eye series by Deborah Camp. This paranormal romantic suspense features psychic Trudy Tucker and celebrity psychic detective Levi Wolf. Filled with heat, danger and intense cases from murder to kidnapping each book offers an exciting case with this psychic team.

In Through His Heart, live-in lovers Trudy and Levi are navigating between both of their homes. Trudy is taking Levi home to meet the parents and begins hearing the pleas of a child.  She finds herself psychically connected to a kidnapper in Missouri and unlike previous cases; she is hearing the young girl who seems to be sending out an SOS.

The case takes them to Levi’s hometown and forces him to come to terms with his past. Camp did an excellent job of giving us the complete story of Levi’s troubled childhood. It was gritty and intense. One of the things I like about this series is that we continually see these characters develop, learn more about them and have front row seats to the growth in their relationship. Through His Heart is heavy on the heat, as these two cannot seem to keep their hands off each other. We also see them open up more and deepen their relationship.

The case was a fascinating one and it had me flipping the pages. The missing young girl brings us a long list of suspects, interference from family members and threats to Trudy. I enjoyed the way in which Camp weaved Levi’s past into the storyline. Circumstances and certain characters allowed us to understand the damage inflicted upon him. Trudy continues to develop her psychic abilities and I am anxious to see her master her skills and unlock her full potential.

Camp does a great job with pacing and creating suspense. At times I felt we saw too much sexy-time, but in end I was satisfied and in truth it strengthened them as a couple. The author hinted at NOLA as a possible case setting and it made me giddy at the prospect.

Each novel in the Mind’s Eye series features a new mystery/case and theoretically works as standalone. However, I have to urge readers to read them in order since the couple and their relationship is an integral part of the overall arc development. Through His Heart is the perfect romantic suspense to take with you on vacation.

Well you sold me again-I went and bought the first one-which I kind of recognized, I don’t know why I didn’t buy it before now because I love books like this. Thanks as always for sharing 🙂

Great review Kim! I love your “heat level”…hehehe! We all need a little heat sometimes ;). Have a happy Sunday Kim!

  3. Haniya

I love romantic suspense! I have read only one book of this genre and it was quite good so I might give this one a try too.. Looks like the books are getting better and better!

  4. Lindy

Psychics fascinate me. Especially she n they are used to assist in solving a case. I’m glad that you enjoyed this one overall, despite too much sexy time. The danger, and suspense sounds like this made the story very entertaining. Great Review Kim 🙂

  5. Jeann

Sounds like a great suspenseful novel, it reminds me of Medium! Lovely review Kimba!

  6. Bea

Well this has all my catnip in it – romance, mystery, psychics, heat. Somehow I’ve missed this series. I need to remedy that. *looks at TBR pile* Some day.

Psychic detectives! I find books like that to have a high chill factor. It doesn’t hurt that this installment is steamy too!

  8. Melissa (Books and Things)

Oh this sounds like a pretty good blend of romantic suspense. I also like the psychic angle. Funny I don’t read too many of those in my paranormal books. Brilly review!

  9. Heidi

I love a good suspense, and this sounds like an interesting series that doesn’t delve into the dark and distrubing, I am a bit disappointed about too much sexy time, but still I think I might have to try this series. I just finished a David Bell book and really enjoyed.

  10. Sophia Rose

I started this series and loved book one, but I forgot to go back and check for the next release. So glad it’s still going strong. The blend of their growing romance, the intense suspense and her psychic abilities was a huge plus.

    Nice review!

  11. Ramona

So not only a romantic mystery, but a story with a solid mystery – the best kind! There seem to be a lot of potential in this series 🙂 Have a great weekend, Kimba!

I think I may check this out but I will take your lead and start with book one I like that they’re in Missouri too or is that just for this case? 🙂

I like the sound of this Kim! I’ve been reading more and more romantic suspense and have been loving it, so I think this series is going to be a must:) Looking forward to reading about the beginning of Levi and Trudy!

Yay for great character development and growth, I love that most in a series I think.
This sounds like it was a great addition, glad you liked it so much Kim.

Aren’t my followers the best. I love interacting and sharing with them. I am enjoying this series and wahoo..I am glad to hear NOLA is a setting in a future book.

Oh man. Suspense books with kids always slay me! I like the sound of the couple in this one though. And if the sexy times serves a purpose in the couple’s development, then I’m usually okay with it.

  18. Felicia The Geeky Blogger

The suspense and the romance sound right up my alley (as soon as I get back on a suspense kick–I am currently watching my mood swing historical). That cover does kind of suck though.

  19. Lover Of Romance

oh this just sounds like a fantastic read!! I love this genre too, mix of suspense and paranormal is the best. Looks like many great qualities.

  20. Melliane

I’m not a fan of the cover but it sounds like a really good book. I always love a good suspens romance, mainly when we have a good mystery. Plus psychic? So many good things there!
