Dark, captivating and atmospheric, The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson is perfect for historical and dark-fantasy lovers. With its handmaidens vibe, I quickly found myself transported to the town of Bethel and the forbidden Darkwood.

Stray Magic: A Strays Novel by Kelly Meding
My quest for all things urban fantasy continues, and I was delighted to stumble upon Stray Magic by Kelly Meding, the first in the Strays series. Dark magic, necromancy, and a snarky kick-ass half human-half djinn heroine, gave way to an addictive tale. I cannot wait for more!
Midnight Crossroad by Charlaine Harris

Midnight Crossroad is very much like the television show with some slight changes mostly in casting. In retrospect, I am almost glad I watched the first season before beginning.
Snowspelled by Stephanie Burgis

This was a quick engaging read that sets up the series and introduces both the volatile world and strong female heroine. Magic, supernatural creatures and a dystopian world where men practice magic and women handle the political aspects from treaties to legislation.
