Last year I read and loved, Extracted, by Sherry D. Ficklin & Tyler Jolley. I was delighted to dive into Ficklin’s young adult paranormal, Losing Logan. This mystery was refreshing, sweet and at times hilarious. Ficklin’s references to science fiction movies and television shows will delight readers. Zoe navigates interacting with a ghost, falling in love and saying good-bye. With fleshed out characters, danger and snark Losing Logan is not to be missed.
Delia’s Shadow by Jaime Lee Moyer
I love crime novels, mysteries and serial killers! Mix in supernatural elements and I am drawn to these stories like moths to a flame. Delia’s Shadow is the first novel in the Delia Martin series by Jamie Lee Moyer. Set against the historic city of San Francisco, Moyer drew me in with her easy writing style, dark descriptions and engaging characters. Mini review: Dark and suspenseful. Old school detective work with a rich plot that kept me captivated as Moyer balanced darkness with light.
The Restorer by Amanda Stevens
I read a review on a blog about The Restorer and immediately downloaded it for my nook. Sadly I cannot remember who reviewed it, but thank you so much! I love crime mysteries and when you wrap it in a little paranormal woo-woo I begin to drool. Amanda Stevens delivered a beautiful, dark, chilling mystery with a side of sexual tension. I quickly became swept up in this tale, the characters and the crime. The opening sentence “I was nine when I saw my first ghost.” grabbed me and the tale kept me enthralled.
Destined for an Early Grave by Jeaniene Frost
I have been slowly working my way through this series. Believe it or not I own the entire series and they have been collecting dust on my shelf. Do any of you have series like that? I love the crazy whirl-wind romance of Cat and Bones. Destined for an Early Grave delivered tons of action, life and death situations and created problems for Cat and Bone’s relationship. It kept me riveted from page one and I quickly consumed this over the course of one day.
House on Plunkett Street by Lorena Bathey
The House on Plunkett Street, is a heartwarming tale about a California apartment building and the residents who reside there. It delivers a hopeful message about reaching out and living life to the fullest. I enjoyed this witty, sometimes sad tale with its paranormal twist.
