Nothing makes me happier than a stronger second book in a series and such was the case with A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir. This is the second novel in young adult dystopian fantasy series An Ember in the Ashes. (Which ironically was standalone, then duology and now there are two more books in the works) Brilliant, fast paced and exquisitely written the audio narrated by Katharine McEwan, Fiona Hardingham and Steve West was completely addictive.
Paper and Fire by Rachel Caine
Paper and Fire by Rachel Caine is the second novel in the Great Library series set in a futuristic world where books are illegal, knowledge is power, and power corrupts. Filled with gadgets, danger and those who seek change Caine will pull you in as the character’s quest continues in Paper and Fire.
Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire
Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire is the first in her new series by the same name. I chose to listen to the audiobook narrated by Cynthia Hopkins and was rewarded as we entered Eleanor West’s Home for Wayward Children. Quirky and original this short audio delivered all that I love about McGuire’s storytelling.
How much fantasy is too much fantasy?
The Caffeinated BEA Takeover continues and today I welcome Daniela from Daniela Ark’s Blog for Readers, Writers and Bloggers. Daniela has a passion for fantasy and she will be discussing How much fantasy is too much fantasy? Whether you read fantasy or bask in historical romance I think you will find her dilemma quite interesting. Grab a cup of joe and make Daniela feel welcome.
Sanctum by Sarah Fine
Sanctum by Sarah Fine is the first in the Guards of Shadowlands and it rocked my ears. Last year I listened to Sarah Fine’s adult urban fantasy series Servants of Fae and loved them. Blogger friends proclaimed I had to listen/read her YA fantasy and I grabbed Sanctum narrated by Amy McFadden. From the world building to the swoony romance and dark corridors beyond the gate, I easily slipped into this world.
