Antebellum Awakening is the second novel in Katie Cross’s Network Series. I am really enjoying this young adult paranormal fantasy filled with witches, dragons and determined protagonist. Katie Cross continues to flesh out the world and its characters. I quickly became caught up in the events unfolding in Chatham Castle from danger to political maneuvering.
I love a good steampunk novel wrapped in mystery and was delighted to read The Incredible Charlotte Sycamore and the Secret Traps by Kate Maddison. The author suggested and it is true, this will work as a standalone. For me however, I think my connection to the characters would have been stronger had I first read, The Incredible Charlotte Sycamore. Featuring a young cast of characters who meddle in mysteries and dabble in steampunk with a sweet understated romance The Incredible Charlotte Sycamore and the Secret Traps was an engaging tale.
All Good Deeds, is the first in a new series starring kick-ass heroine Lucy Kendall. Discouraged by the constraints of law enforcement and bureaucracy, former child social worker Lucy Kendall is now a private investigator with a secret. Intense and well-crafted All Good Deeds will have you flipping the pages as we hunt for a child abductor in the sleazy underbelly of the city.
The Cemetery Tours series is turning out to be great fun. Between Worlds by Jacqueline E. Smith is the second paranormal adventure in the series and I quickly consumed it. These ghostly mysteries are light, with a slow burning side of romance, humor and Ghost Hunter TV.
Flawed and Damaged is the debut new adult novel for Emily Krat and first in the Damaged Hearts series. While dubbed new adult, the male protagonist is slightly older and the female heroine is out in the world force in Moscow. It was a fun, fast-paced novel that while not without flaws kept me entertained.
