I chose to review Voice in the Wind after meeting the author Judy Bruce. Judy is a fellow Nebraskan and has a passion for reading, writing and her family. In Voices in the Wind, she takes us on a young woman’s journey of loss, betrayal, discover and love. Set in Nebraska I enjoyed watching her transformation, and seeing the familiar Nebraskan landscape. With a touch of spiritual awareness, Megan’s story will capture the reader.
Pirate’s Alley by Suzanne Johnson
Political backstabbing and alliances take center stage in Pirate’s Alley the fourth book in Suzanne Johnson’s Sentinel of New Orleans series. Bizarre weather and serious power plays complicated by friendship had me flipping the pages of this urban fantasy.
Fading Out by Trisha Wolfe
Fading Out is the third book in the Living Heartwood series by Trisha Wolfe. Even though I did not read the first two books I chose to dive in when the author assured me it worked as a standalone. Fading Out shares the romance that develops between Arian and Ryder. It isn’t an easy journey but they both find themselves through the other. Hot and heartfelt I quickly devoured this one.
Merchant Master by Alvania Scarborough
This is the second book I have read by Alvania Scarborough and I love her writing style. Merchant Master is the first book in the Lost Colony series and once again, I found myself drawn into the world, the banter filled romance and suspenseful plot. This paranormal suspense with its fantasy vibe reminded me of Jayne Anne Krentz’s Arcane Society novels and her Harmony series writing as Jayne Castle. I adore discovering new authors whose work pushes limits and heightens my experience.
Disobedience by Alvania Scarborough
Disobedience by Alvania Scarborough is the first novel in the Harker’s Hell series. It is an intriguing blend of science fiction and romantic suspense. I found myself completely caught up in its Old West world and historical romance vibe. A simmering romance, humor and a mystery threaded throughout the tale had me flipping the pages. Fresh, original and genre bending Scarborough gave me one heck of an adventure.
