The Merzetti Effect is a suspenseful and steamy paranormal romance. It grabbed my attention from page one and everything else slipped away. The tale takes place in modern day Canada and involves vampires, science, danger, love and a very unique woman who holds the key to a cure
The Wolf Gift by Anne Rice
Anne Rice is a best-selling American author of gothic, supernatural, historical, erotica, and religious themed books. She is perhaps best known for her Vampire Chronicles. The Wolf Gift delves into the creation of werewolves and presents both philosophical and religious views and questions. The tale, which moved at a slow pace, was beautifully written, but lacked the luster I was looking for. Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed it; I just felt that overall it fell flat of my personal expectations.
Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs
Iron Kissed is the third book in the Mercy Thompson series. Mercy is asked to assist in figuring out who is murdering Fae on the reservation. Zee, Mercy’s friend and mentor is later arrested for the murders. Mercy steps in to clear his name and the Fae make it very clear they do not want her help. This novel is my favorite in the series thus far. Briggs blends folklore and fiction to enhance this tale and the effect is delightful. Mercy’s character growth is awesome as she is tested by some of her biggest adversaries. In this novel, Mercy make a much anticipated decision regarding the men in her life.
Feyland: The Dark Realm by Anthea Sharp
Feyland: The Dark Realm is pure, delightful fantasy. I thoroughly enjoyed this engaging quest and romance. It blurred the lines between reality and gaming. While I have absolutely no experience playing this type of video game; I have watched enough of my son playing quest games to appreciate the plot and understand the world of Feyland. I love the way in which Sharp weaves fairy folklore and Scottish ballads into this tale.
Incarnate by Jodi Meadows
Jodi Meadows’ debut novel Incarnate is the first book in the New Soul trilogy. This fantasy offers a unique world filled with dragons, sylphs and a city called Heart. The tale has danger, battles, suspense, romance, a divine being, mystery, and intrigue. Book one centers around the romance of Ana and Sam; as we are spoon-fed details about the world in which they live. While at times I found this frustrating, it was enough to keep me
