Insurgent by Veronica Roth was perhaps one of the most anticipated novels for 2012. I absolutely loved Divergent book one in the Divergent series as you can see my review here. I pre-ordered this novel and worried whether or not book two would give me the same rush I experienced in the first one. I am delighted to say that not only did Roth deliver she raised the bar. Insurgent captured me from the first sentence and held me in its grip till the last page. *sighs* Now I have to endure another bout of anticipation while waiting for book three.
Sound of the Heart by Genevieve Graham
The Sound of Heart by historical fiction romance author Genevieve Graham takes us from the sweeping hills of Scotland to the savage shores of America. When Graham approached me for this tour she had me at the words; Scotland and Highlander. I am delighted to say I wasn’t disappointed. She delivered an epic tale of hardship, history, and a romance that will captivate readers.
The Girl in the Clockwork Collar by Kady Cross
The Girl in the Clockwork Collar is the second book in the Steampunk Chronicles by Kady Cross, and the third about protagonist Finley Jayne. This time we cross the Atlantic to rescue Jasper. Cross delivers a plot filled with suspense, a dash of romance, history, awesome characters and amazing gadgetry. I love the steampunk genre and Cross has earned herself a permanent place on my bookshelf. If you have not read The Girl in the Steel Corset,(click title to see review) I strongly advise you to stop reading, as this review might contain spoilers regarding the first novel.
Dark Kiss by Michelle Rowen
Dark Kiss is the first novel in a new YA series called Nightwatchers by author Michelle Rowan. Filled with demons, angels and a new supernatural creature this novel is sure to delight. Rowan offers romance, suspense and a battle against good and evil. I found this novel to be an easy, highly entertaining read and the start to an exciting new paranormal series.
Big Sky Country by Linda Lael Miller
Big Sky Country is the first in a new contemporary romance series called Swoon-Worthy Cowboys by popular author Linda Lael Miller. If you follow my blog, you know I am not a huge fan of contemporary romance. There are two exceptions; small towns and heroes in cowboy boots. I have read several of Miller’s series and loved them. In particular The McKettrick’s and the Creed’s. Big Sky Country offers a new town and cast of characters to fall in love with. Each of Miller’s books are designed to be read as standalone. I enjoy reading them in order and building relationships with the characters.
