Embers, is the first novel in the urban fantasy series Anya Kalinczyk by Laura Bickle. The setting is Detroit and focuses on Anya Kalinczyk an arson investigator and physic medium known as a Lantern. She has the ability to see ghosts and crosses entities over who should not be here. This was an intense read as Anya with the help of her friends tries to stop an arsonist. I quickly consumed this novel and will be continuing the series.
Cicada by Belle Whittington
Cicada is the first book, in a new series by debut author Belle Whittington. This paranormal YA takes us to a small farming community in eastern Texas. Here the author offers to share a story, if we promise to keep it a secret. Filled with likeable characters and extraterrestrial beings this novel is sure to capture your attention. I found this to be a fun, quick, and original tale surrounded in mystery.
Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness
Shadow of Night is the second book from the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness. I could not wait to get back to Diana and Matthew’s story and unlock the secrets of Asmole 782. I am delighted to inform you that Shadow of Night delivered all that I hoped for and more. Harkness brings the past to life as we travel back in time and adds new depth to the characters that I adore. I literally consumed this and cannot wait for the final novel. If I had to sum up my opinion in three words they would be; captivating, beautiful and breathtaking.
Struck by Jennifer Bosworth
I was drawn to both the cover and concept of Struck. I love post-apocalyptic dystopian worlds and I’m fascinated by lightening. In author Jennifer Bosworth’s world Los Angeles and other areas of the world have been struck with natural disasters. Experts are worried there will be more events, and religious zealots are crying end of times.
We are introduced to Mia Price in the first line of the novel.”My name is Mia Price, and I am a human lightening rod.” …
Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Lord by Sarah MacLean
Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Lord is the second book in Sarah MacLean’s Love By Numbers series. I absolutely love this series and the characters MacLean creates. Once again, I found myself swept away and consumed this in a single afternoon. I laughed, giggled, swooned and cried. Fans of historical romances, strong woman and swoon worthy men do not want to miss this series.
