The Ashford Affair by Lauren Willig

It has been quite some time since I have read a book that spans generations uncovering family secrets. The Ashford Affair touted by critics to be reminiscent of “Out of Africa with the feel of a Downtown Abbey cast” was highly accurate and despite wanting more time in Kenya I was pleased. While at times it was morose, I quickly became caught up in the different characters from past to present. Out of the Past by Dana Roquet

I love time traveler books and perhaps my favorite is the Time Traveler’s Wife, so I was very curious about Dana Roquet’s novel Out of the Past. It has an unusual twist in that the couple both live in the present day, but while they sleep they slip into the past lives of those from the same small town in Mahaska County, Iowa. The tale is filled with romance, touching moments, memories of the past and hidden danger. I easily consumed this engaging tale in a single afternoon and look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Moonset by Scott Tracey

Moonset the first book in the Legacy of Moonset series and I was drawn to the cover and synopsis. Witches, warlocks, a powerful witch congress, danger, lies and an unknown enemy make this slow building tale a wonderful start to a fascinating and fresh new young adult series. While I craved more details I think this will appeal to fans of Harry Potter.
