Meddy Chan is getting married, and the Aunties have the perfect wedding planners for them. But Meddy’s perfect day turns upside down when the Mafia gets involved in Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Q. Sutanto. Narrated by Risa Mei, it offered a fun, quirky mystery with plenty of shenanigans that kept me listening.

The aunties are back, fiercer than ever and ready to handle any catastrophe--even the mafia--in this delightful and hilarious sequel by Jesse Q. Sutanto, author of Dial A for Aunties.
Meddy Chan has been to countless weddings, but she never imagined how her own would turn out. Now the day has arrived, and she can't wait to marry her college sweetheart, Nathan. Instead of having Ma and the aunts cater to her wedding, Meddy wants them to enjoy the day as guests. As a compromise, they find the perfect wedding vendors: a Chinese-Indonesian family-run company just like theirs. Meddy is hesitant at first, but she hits it off right away with the wedding photographer, Staphanie, who reminds Meddy of herself, down to the unfortunately misspelled name.
Meddy realizes that is where their similarities end, however, when she overhears Staphanie talking about taking out a target. It turns out Staphanie and her family are The Family--actual mafia, and they're using Meddy's wedding as a chance to take out a target. Her aunties and mother won't let Meddy's wedding ceremony become a murder scene--over their dead bodies--and will do whatever it takes to save her special day, even if it means taking on the mafia.
Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Q. Sutanto is the second audiobook in the Aunties cozy mystery series and another library selection for me.
Another fun tale featuring Meddy, her Ma and three aunties. This cozy mystery series offers a hilarious, over the top look at Chinese-Indonesian culture.
Meddy and Nathan will hold their nuptials at the Oxford Christ Church in England. The Aunties have gone all out from dresses with intricate hats; because in England, the ladies wear hats to a secret surprise. The Aunties have also found the perfect wedding coordinators. A Chinese-Indonesian photographer named Staphanie and her family. It’s perfect from the grandmother to the Uncles.
Everything goes smoothly until they are at the airport where the Aunties unveil their surprise. They have spent months perfecting their English. Learning all the British slang phrases like Tosser and Dog’s Bollocks and they’ve taken on a British accent. I kid you not. I could not keep a straight face. Poor Meddy. But things only get worse when they get to England and she discovers their wedding vendors are Mafia and are planning a hit at HER wedding.
From shenanigans to kidnappings, the tale that unfolds had me giggling aloud, rolling my eyes and wanting to stop the Aunts even as I adored them. This is a fun, cozy mystery series that highlights some of the Chinese-Indonesian culture and family. The good, the bad and the well intentions. It is not meant to be taken seriously and offers some fun with memorable characters.
Risa Mei narrates the series and did such a stellar job with these characters. Her tones set the mood and enhanced the tale, bringing out the humorous moments from accents to drama.
If you are looking for a unique, funny, cozy look no further than the Aunties series. While I enjoyed this series, there was something magical about her newest book, Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murders. I highly recommend you try that one as well. It is one I will buy friends for the holidays.
