We hope you enjoy them and find books to share with the little ones in your life. Today we have The Gecko Without An Echo by Cheryl Denise Bannerman.

Earl the Squirrel and Tim the Gecko are best friends living in a tree by the bay. Tim is happy roaming the wood with his best friend, except for one thing…when he shouts his name, he gets no reply. Find out what happens on one of their hikes into the woods and what Tim ultimately learns about communication and friendship.

Colorfully illustrated by Anushka Bansal, The Gecko Without An Echo written by Cheryl Denise Bannerman tells the story Earl the Squirrel and Tim the Gecko. The two are best friends who go on an adventure exploring the countryside. Tim is so happy, except that when he shouts his name, no one replies.

The adventure of this squirrel and gecko shares the story of friendship, communication and making yourself heard. The story is simplist with rhyme and while Sophia (7) knew what an echo actually is, Clayton (5) and Hazel (2) did not. They all appreciated the simplist tale and the message.

Sophia could read most of the book herself, and the pictures kept the younger ones entertained and offered some context clues. We had some lovely discussion during and after the story. We all loved when Tim called out hello in different languages and we even added a few they knew.

This would make a great edition to the classroom, your family bookshelf, or library. Available in ebook, hardcover and audiobook.
