A no-nonsense female cop reluctantly teams up with the one man who makes her lose control in a deliciously sensual new novel from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster... To bring down a sleazy abduction ring, Lieutenant Margaret "Margo" Peterson has set herself up as bait. But recruiting Dashiel Riske as her unofficial partner is a whole other kind of danger. Dash is 6'4" of laid-back masculine charm, a man who loves life—and women—to the limit. Until Margo is threatened, and he reveals a dark side that may just match her own. Beneath Margo's tough facade is a slow-burning sexiness that drives Dash crazy. The only way to finish this case is to work together side by side…skin to skin. And as their mission takes a lethal turn, he'll have to prove he's all the man she needs—in all the ways that matter.

If you have been staying Caffeinated you know, I have been lovin’ the Love Undercover series by Lori Foster. Dash of Peril is the last book in the series, but don’t sigh because her next series features Cannon a character we first met in Getting Rowdy. Dash of Peril features kick-ass Lieutenant Margret Peterson and Dashiel Riske, Logan’s sexy brother. Mini-review: Edge of your seat suspense and smokin’ hot romance made this one a keeper.

Dashiel “Dash” has been interested in Margret “Margo” throughout the series and has even helped her while undercover on her current case. Someone is kidnapping girls, drugging and raping them, and a few have turned up dead. Margo has set herself up as bait and when the villains attempt to grab her, she finds herself injured and in danger. Dash steps in to watch over her, much to Margo’s annoyance and the tale that unfolds was sexy, intense and filled with danger. I will admit I have been waiting for Dash’s story and hints from previous books assured me it would be with Margo. I admire this tough as nails woman. She has risen through the ranks, cleaned house and the men respect her. They don’t, however, see her as a woman. But Dash sees the soft feminine woman beneath the shield. Foster peeled back Margo’s kick-ass, take no prisoners, by the book facade and revealed the complex woman. Dash is a construction and design company owner who still likes to put on a tool belt and work alongside his men. The man is smexy personified. While he is definitely a ladies’ man, he is also level-headed, caring, honest. He totally gets Margo and loved watching their relationship unfold. While, for some, it may feel like insta-love the slow build and attraction throughout the series made them feel genuine to me.

We see other beloved characters and their reaction to Margo and Dash was hilarious. The conversations, faces, and banter had me giggling. We learn more about Cannon, an MMA fighter with a heart of pure gold, and I cannot wait for his story. From police corruption to the seedy world of porn Dash of Peril offered an intense plot filled with dark suspects that kept me on the edge and our characters in constant danger. Foster does an excellent job pacing the plot, weaving in suspects and action and while still giving us a heated romance. She added elements of dominance and submission to Margo and Dash’s romance and it felt natural and plausible. This notched up the heat for me and wasn’t overdone. The overall plot arc for the Love Undercover series came together in this final book. Foster tied up loose threads and gave us a clear picture of our villains. Margo’s family was outlandish, disturbingly dysfunctional and it was easy to see how Margo’s persona came to be.

From the romance to the action Foster had me engaged. Dash of Peril was a sexy, intense and satisfying conclusion to the Love Undercover series. No Limits, the first in Foster’s new Ultimate series will feature Cannon and release August 26, 2014. I for one cannot wait!

I love mystery and suspense books. But, combined with romance, they’re even better.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh I agree Pat I think it makes the romance more intense 🙂

  3. Michele-A Belle's Tales

I bought my first book in this series this past week! I’ve heard so many wonderful things about it from you and Christy! I can’t wait to get started! Very happy to hear you enjoyed this last installment and that you were satisfied with the conclusion. Great review, my friend.

  4. Lily B

Aww always a sad when a series comes to an end, but because of the way this one was done I guess it’s was obviously coming.
Great to know that it’s still went strong cause it sounds amazing. I think I might have one of the books around here somewhere. But I will need to read 1 first.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Agreed, and I like that one of the characters we meet will be the first in her new series, makes the transition smoother

  5. Kristin T.

I loved this series…it was my first introduction to Lori Foster’s books. Like you, I had been waiting for Dash and Margo’s story and I think they were my favorite of the whole series! I also anxious to read Cannon’s story!

  6. Alexa

I can’t wait to read more of this series. I only read the third book for a tour and never went back to read the first two books or this book. I love Foster and anything she writes is bound to find its way to my shelves.

Thanks for the great review, I’m glad you liked this one.

  7. Camille

Thanks for the great review Kimba! Now I’m intrigued. I just finished Elle Kennedy’s MIDNIGHT PURSUITS, a romantic suspense, and I’m finding myself in need of more stories like hers. ^__^ I think I’ll get me a copy of one of Lori Foster’s books in this series. Which one do you think I should get first? 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

I really enjoy romantic suspense and hope you find Foster to your liking!

  8. Tanya

Reading this one now. I am really interested to see how Cannon’s book is going to play out. So far in this one he seems to have an interest, but I don’t know if it goes any further. I do find that I am more interested in the side characters than Dash though. Not sure why I’m not clicking with the romance.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Awe, poor Dash but yes I am interested in Cannon’s story

  9. Andrea

I’m starting up wknder if romantic suspense isn’t the right fit for me. I liked Dash of Peril, and I liked Margo and Dash. It’s just, the suspense part felt…off to me. But I felt the same way about Getting a Rowdy too. I think it’s me.
    Glad you enjoyed DoP!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Bummer, I love romantic suspense but it happens Andrea 🙂

  10. Sharlene Wegner

I love romance novels for the HEA, and the suspense part gives it an exciting edge.

  11. Diane Sallans

I’ve read many of Lori’s books – it’ll be fun to catch up the characters from the earlier books in the series.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ooo this series is such fun Diane..good luck and enjoy!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I completely agree Angela! Have a wonderful weekend 🙂

  12. A Voracious Reader

One of these days I’ll get back to Lori Foster’s books. I read a bunch of them before joining Goodreads and a whole new world opened up to me. lol

    • kimbacaffeinate

I hope you do Carol. Have a wonderful weekend!

  13. Candace

I’ve read Getting Rowdy and liked it pretty well. It’s not really my genre of choice (contemp romance) but it’s nice to read something different sometimes. I have to say that I am curious about the story with Cannon since I have met him. I’m not really feeling the urge to read this book though. Glad you enjoyed it!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Well you know I love my romantic suspense and I am super excited about Cannon’s tale.

  14. Melissa (Books and Things)

I so need to read this series. I enjoyed her last one. Unfortunately, I’m not always a fan of the ladies characters as I am of the men, but so glad to hear that she is kickarse! 😀

  15. Tanja

Now another yummy guy on the cover, well, well, well I should meet them. 😀 I know you love this series and I’m glad you enjoyed this one as well. Great review, Kim 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

thanks Tanja. Her covers are all swoon-worthy.

  16. Lauren

I love this series! I started it after reading one of your reviews, and now I can’t wait to catch up so I can get to Dash. Fab review!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh I am so glad! I have been trying to get everyone I know addicted to them!

  17. Michelle

I’m still waiting for my library to get with the times and order a copy of the first book! I really want to check these out, and I’m a little relieved it only has four books. Seeing how much you and Christy love these books makes me want to read them even more.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Hehe..yeah I sorta got Christy addicted to them! Also watch because they tend to put the kindle addition on sale for 1.99

  18. Ginny

I haven’t read this series yet but I won all the books except for this one from Lori several months ago and I just won Dash of Peril last month. WooHoo! I’ve read all your reviews and I am looking forward to binge reading this series really soon.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Wow, I try so hard to win her T-shirts and never do..you rock the luck! Now read them 🙂

  19. Heidi

You and Christy both loved this book and the series. I really must read these one of these days. Dash sounds terrific. You showed up in the Bloglovin feed today 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

I know, and Emily’s didn’t (in feed) They grew to fast and are replacing all of their servers. I had my site tested to be sure it wasn’t me. Thanks Heidi and yes you should read these.

  20. aurian

Yay, so glad you love her too. She makes me “feel” LOL

  23. erinf1

this sounds awesome!!! Thanks so much for the great post and giveaway! I like a bit of danger to my romance so that’s why I read the RS. Makes the romance seem deeper and more significant to me. Thanks for sharing!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I so agree Erin, and Foster knows just how to deliver it. Good luck!

  24. Jenny

Ah! I’m so far behind in this series Kim, but I love it to pieces. I’m just going to have to binge read them one week and get caught up. I like that there’s a dominance/submission angle to their romance but that it’s not overdone which I think is really easy to do. Can’t wait to get to this!

    • kimbacaffeinate

She handled the sub/dom thing so well, and it just fit. I can now see the appeal. This series would make the perfect binge read 🙂

  25. Felicia the Geeky Blogger

I can’t wait for Cannon’s book! Dash was disappointing to me but still love her writing. I also thought it was good round out for this series. Cannon though! *SIGH*

    • kimbacaffeinate

Awe, sorry Dash wasn’t your man. Rowdy was my favorite, but Cannon could be a close second!

    • kimbacaffeinate

You really should! When I see book one on sale I will hunt you down. 🙂

  26. Lupdilup

I think is time to get Lori Foster a shot, I just added the first book to my wish list (I’m out of credits…LOL) as soon as they give me the chance to buy more credits I will.
    Thanks Kimba.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I hate that I cannot by credits..boo. I am waiting for my April one to get Dorthy Must Die. This series would be cool on audio.

  27. Mary

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Get Rowdy (he fought too much, thinking more with his fists than with his brain at times) but I do enjoy Lori Foster and this one sounds good. I like the sound of both Margo and Dash (I liked what I’d seen in the first book).

    • kimbacaffeinate

Did you read books out of order? I am finding that most who did found Rowdy that way. Margo and Dash have been doing the tango since book one so I was excited to read about them.:)

  28. Cyn

I’m glad you enjoyed this! I love seeing Logan and Reese go through the shock of realizing Margo is a woman, haha. Dash is definitely smexy personified. And I’m so excited for more Cannon! Great review (:

    • kimbacaffeinate

I cannot wait for Cannon’s story. Thanks Cyn and yes it was hilarious seeing their reactions..hehe

  29. Silvia

I pretty much got the feeling you loved this series… Sure, your reviews were a big hint 😉 Like Jaci Burton, Lori Foster is one of those authors I noted a long time ago but never got the chance to read their titles. I think I’ll have to remedy to that, huh?
    Great review, Kimberly!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Hmm, ok maybe I love this series a little 🙂 and yes Silvia you need to read one!

  30. Christy

I can’t sleep now. Anyway … I agree with you – I don’t see that as insta-love at all. Maybe if someone didn’t read the other books first they might. There has been something brewing between them for months if you go back to the first book. So there. 😀 Wonderful review for Mr. Dash. Oh, and didn’t you just love the very end? lol

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes I adored the ending! Dash was a sweetie, and I am excited about Cannon.

    • kimbacaffeinate

testing again, just call me your spammy friend *hugs*

  31. Melliane

oh it’s the last book? I know the series but I’ve never tried it. I should, I keep hearing great things about the author and it makes me curious. I’m glad it met up your expectations.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes and one of the characters will be in the next series. I hope you try them one day 🙂

  32. anna

Woot! I’m reading this one right now! It’s so good 🙂 I’m glad to see you enjoyed it too and it’s a keeper!

    • kimbacaffeinate

sweet, I love the added heat in this one Anna 🙂 and cannot wait to read about Cannon. Enjoy my friend!
