What a delightfully interesting beginning to a series Under Dark Skies by A.J. Scudiere turned out to be. This is the first book in the Nightshade Forensic Files series and is at its heart a FBI thriller but Scudiere added paranormal elements to this unit of the FBI.
The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
The wait to get my hands on the audiobook of The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin seemed like a long one with the cruel cliffhanger I was faced with in The Evolution of Mara Dyer. The mind blowing, twisted, breath-holding plot continued and I removed my ear-buds both satisfied and spent. Hodkin gave us one heck of a ride with her unreliable narrator and twisted plot. Gads!
The Hot Zone by Jayne Castle
The Hot Zone take us back to Rainshadow island home of misfit characters and the strange forest known as the Preserve. In an attempt to gain more power, some have attempted to harness the power of artifacts left behind by the aliens who once inhabited this planet, while other far dangerous scientist and those in power have tried to recreate the serum a Jones created to boost ones paranormal powers.
Deception Cove by Jayne Castle
Deception Cove is the second book in the Rainshadow trilogy and the tenth in the Harmony series. While it isn’t necessary to read them in order, I recommend you at least read the trilogies in order. Jayne Castle is a pseudonym for Jayne Ann Krentz and all of her stories take place in the future, in a world called Harmony. I love this strange world, especially the dust bunnies that dwell there. Three word review: suspenseful, romantic and entertaining.
Canyons of the Night by Jayne Castle
I preordered Canyons of the Night and was delighted when it arrived. Having read all of the Arcane Society novels, I knew that once I started reading, I’d be unable to stop. I highly recommend this series, if you are looking for a mystery, romance thriller with a paranormal twist. Second Sight by Amanda Quick was the first paranormal book I’d ever read. I read the back cover and said, “Paranormal?” “What?” “Yuck!” My husband brought this book home to me and since I didn’t want to hurt his feelings; I dutifully began reading and thus my love for paranormal books began. This opened the door to all the genres for me. Don’t be afraid to try a new genre, you may be amazed at what you find.
