Cinder is Marissa Meyer’s debut novel, and in this readers opinion she knocked the ball out of the park for a Grand Slam home run. Cinder offers a futuristic, steampunk re-telling of the fairytale Cinderella. The world-building is magical with amazing characters and a plot that has endless possibilities. Meyer’s writing style is lovely and the tale was beautifully written. While some of the tale is very predictable Meyer’s creates a storyline and world that are both unique and fascinating.
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
31st Dec
Shatter Me, has been on my wish list since I began reading the reviews of fellow readers and bloggers. A group I belong to on Goodreads chose it as their January Book of the Month. (sorry guys I couldn’t wait) So I bought it with B&N gift cards I received for Christmas. This is the last book I read for 2011 and boy did I go out with a bang.
Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel
24th Oct
Dearly, Departed is a YA steampunk novel with a splash of romance. It contains elements of horror fantasy and a post-apocalyptic dystopia. This is Lia Habel’s debut novel and despite some flaws, I found it to be refreshing and delightful.
