After reading Flirting with Fire by Kate Meader, the first novel in the Hot in Chicago series I was hoping we would get more of Firefighter Gage Simpson and Brady Smith the guarded, tattooed chef. The heat and humor from their first introduction had me craving more. Melting Point delivered their complicated, emotional and heated romance.

As we head into fall, mysteries and suspense thrillers become a favorite read. All the Beautiful Brides by Rita Herron the first book in her Graveyard Falls series delivered a suspenseful murder mystery with a light dish of romance on the side. Old murders, new murders and a perspective from the killer made this a page-turner.

Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho

Sorcerer to the Crown, by Zen Cho lured me with its promise of an alternate London, magic and Fae. Politics, prejudice and magic are central themes in this fantasy set against an alternate Regency England. Despite some issues, Sorcerer to the Crown with its dry humor and colorful character ended up making me smile.
