Do you like old school horror? Nick Cutter brings that dark grittiness to his story. The Deep is a spine-tingling, breath-holding horror story that had me in awe even as I cringed. I listened to this on audio and Corey Brill’s narration made the protagonist’s fear seep into my bones.
The Alphabet House by Jussi Adler-Olsen
I am always drawn to tales set during World War II and could not help picking up The Alphabet House by Jussi Adler-Olsen. Alphabet House is a psychological thriller about two British pilots who find themselves behind enemy lines. Their journey to survive finds them being admitted as patients in the Alphabet House, an asylum for Nazi officers. Adler-Olsen takes us on their harrowing journey during the war and after.
Becoming Rain by K.A. Tucker
Becoming Rain by K.A. Tucker is the second book in the Burying Water series and while this is dubbed new adult it could very easily fall in the adult romantic suspense genre. Undercover FBI, romance, fancy cars and swoon-worthy moments had me quickly lost myself within its pages.
A Curse Unbroken by Cecy Robson
A Curse Unbroken by Cecy Robson is the fifth Weird Girls novel and final book about Celia Wird and Aric, at least for now. This urban fantasy romance is intense as evil once again threatens Celia and those she loves. Not quite as dark and gory as it’s predecessor Robson finally delivers what fans have been pining for.
Return to Me by Kelly Moran
Return to Me is the first in the Covington Cove series by new to me author Kelly Moran. I loved the simple cover and when I read the synopsis, I knew I had to read this. With its second chance romance, military man and coastal setting all I could say was, “Heck yes, gimmie!” A slow burning romance, broken hearts and a shared past gave Return to Me all the feels allowing me to become lost in Cole and Mia’s story.
