Coffee Pot Reviews are short and sweet reviews I write in the time it takes my coffee pot to brew. With the second season of the TV show Midnight, Texas set to begin, I knew it was time to finish up this trilogy by Charlaine Harris. Grab a peppermint tea and check out my thoughts.
Deadmarsh Fey by Melika Dannese Lux
Deadmarsh Fey by Melika Dannese Lux is the first novel in the dark fantasy series, Dwellers of Darkness, Children of Light. The story takes place in a manor surrounded by wood in nineteenth century England. Ghosts, demons, fae, dragons and treachery await you in this twisted fantasy with elements of Victorian horror and lore.
Changeling by Molly Harper
Changeling is the first in the Sorcery and Society series by Molly Harper. When I saw Amanda Ronconi would narrate, I knew I had to listen. Boarding schools, dark secrets, magical books, social classes and suspense await you.
Awakened Spells by Logan Byrne
Awakened Spells by Logan Byrne is the first in the series by the same name. Currently, there are four published books being made into audiobooks, narrated by the lovely, Nikiya Palombi. A low-end magical thief discovers she has the mark of Merlin when she joins M.A.G.I.C., a magical police force. Not a bad start to what looks to be a fun series.
Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett
I picked up Foundryside after reading a recommendation from Kevin Hearne, and I couldn’t be happier. I listened to the narration performed by Tara Sands. An action-packed, suspenseful tale with an unlikely heroine set in a dystopian world, Bennett captivated and enthralled me from the opening chapter.
