Those lucky enough to live in the elite lakefront community of Cloverhill Lakes are drawn to it for its safety and top-notch school district. The moms meet for coffee at the park while their kids play, they’re heavily involved in the PTA, and the summers are filled with chardonnay, brunch, sundresses, and backyard bonfires.

But everything changes when Regan Hoffman’s car explodes at the annual Labor Day party. The wrong person is killed, but it was meant for her. As the carefully crafted walls of her community begin to crumble, Regan tries to keep it together—something made infinitely harder when she sees her dead husband…alive.

When a Cloverhill Lakes resident suddenly goes missing, dark secrets begin to surface from underneath the idyllic veneer of their beautiful community—and the truth threatens to destroy them all as Regan finds herself in a fight for her life.

I’ve enjoyed several of Glass’s novels and was excited to read her newest offering. The tale that unfolds in Too Close to Home delivers multiple points of view and plenty of mystery that kept me engaged and fearful for characters, even as I grew anxious.

The opening with the Labor Day picnic pulled me in, and then I had to adjust as I got to know the different perspectives. Once I did that, the differ threads surrounding a bomb threat, a missing person and an impossible sighting had me hooked.

Seraphina Nova Glass knows how to build a suspenseful story where nothing is as it seems and discovery is just around the corner. It was complex, unpredictable, and kept me engaged. I enjoyed how the secrets were revealed and how the different perspectives intertwined. I think Andi’s was my favorite perspective. I honestly don’t know how she kept it all together. I silently screamed at moments.

A Desperate Housewives vibe nestled in a small lakeside community filled with secrets and betrayals not seen by outsiders. If you are looking for a addictive beach read, I recommend Too Close to Home.
